Kings v Hawks Nov 17

Make way for the Kings of the World. Nice words Uncle Russ.

Today, we'll see just how big the gap is between top and bottom. I hope the Hawks brought a bucket of lube with them because they need it today. They might be able to squeeze past The Bogieman and his gang of Princes, but that might be like Namibia pulling off a win against the Australian cricket team.

Kings should get this one. Double figures by half time, but whether the Kings pull the wings of the Hawks in the second half will be up to how mean they want to be.

The Kings have shown a tendency to start games flat, and that would be the Hawks best chance I think - they need to come out from the opening tip swinging and try to get a jump early, otherwise it's hard to see the Hawks having enough on either end of the court to take the win.

Looking forward to seeing how big the crowd is today, should be a great atmosphere and hopefully a lot of Hawks' fans make the trip up the Princes Highway like back in the good old days.

I have been cheering for the Hawks since the early 90's but I just cant be bothered any more, I wonder if any other Hawks fans are losing faith as well?
If the NBL wants a serious comp they need to help the struggling teams or cut them from the competition.

They already get Melo paid for by the League. They already get welfare handouts from the League.

Is the League to give them a demo on how to promote themselves and be a proper ongoing concern too?

Even Cairns has the wherewithal to leverage some indigenous money from taxpayers locally.

How could u not sign Dech over Buluk?

He would not be playing the same role with the Wildcats. Sometimes for a player to grow they needs to go into a situation where they can get the minutes in order to continue to grow.

Perth would have Dech as second sg, nothing wrong with that.
After Buluk was injured they gave it to pozoglou who was a dp and brought in young reath, a guard.
Atm, Perth's guard rotation is limited, Martin, cotton with norton off the bench.

I only saw the last few minutes, so the Hawks were in with a shot (until their shots weren't in!)

But then I had a look at the box score. Quite a lop-sided free-throw and foul count. Was this warranted or did the Kings get a definite advantage from the refs?

Reply #774908 | Report this post

Perthworld

The previous record attendance was 17,143 for a double header of Razorbacks-Bullets and Kings-Cannons as part of the opening of the Superdome. Some sources claim 19K which has been incorrectly taken up by the media.

There were a few double headers involving Razorbacks games followed by the Globetrotters but these were nowhere near capacity.

AUStadiums lists the 1999 double header as 17,800. I believe the NBL records it as 17,143. Confusing.

@Three to Make Two; eh, I'll admit I'm an impartial Kings fan, but I thought the Kings were a lot more aggressive getting inside, especially Tate. I thought the refereeing was atrocious all the same, with illegals screens being thrown by both teams all game long.

And on another point, damn you can tell Will Weaver is one helluva coach!

Just the way he coaches, what he says, his rotations etc. - playing chess whilst other coaches are playing checkers.

Ive been to a few NBA games is the last year, and today's game day show from the Kings organisation was of equal quality.

It’s the first kings game I’ve seen this year, do they put on a similar show each game?

The new kings owners are very smart, the brewery hotel just near the arena was full before and after the game, lots kings players up there after with the Perth v NZ game on the big screen. Have not seen basketball like this in Sydney since the nineties.

The kings core guys aren't a lot different from last season, they just seem to know how to win. Obviously the addition of Ware, Tate, Moller and Bruce helps a lot but most experts didn’t rate Tate , Moller and Bruce before season starts, these guys have played well in there roles.
