Melbourne United sign import Stanton Kidd

United sign Stanton Kidd as import replacement.

He played 4 games for Utah.

Looks like a decent pick-up.

Thoughts?

Sounds like exactly the type of player they needed.

Stats aren't the most important thing, it's mostly about fit

Based on Vickerman's comments about the type of player he is, and also that he played a full season in the Euroleague, I'm happy with this signing

He's played in Europe, and won the EuroCup with a Turkish team, and is now "NBA Fringe".

Given their lack of depth at the 4 spot, he sounds like a great fit, being able to play 3 or 4 depending on requirements.

Let's hope he plays defence, does he start in the three in front McCarron or four in front Barlow.

They were always spending more than the kings, Perth as well.

The idea of Perth's roster this season being more expensive than Sydney's is lolarious

It ain't, you think your imports play for nothing and of course you had pay overs to keep Steindl and get 400k Kay per season.

Who spends more MU or Kings? Yawn...... Can we get back to the question what does Kidd bring to the team?

SEM are spending more than Sydney and United. Perth not far behind SEM, then Adelaide, then Sydney, then United. It's in the shareholders report

I expect the rotation might be something like.....

Long 28/Pledger 9/Acuil or SM 3
Barlow 25/Kidd 7/Acuil or SM 8
Kidd 20/McCarron 20
McCarron 12/Goulding 25/Trimble 3
Trimble 28/Ili 12

McCarron 32
Trimble 31
Long 28 (partly due to foul trouble but that might improve with Kidd improving the D, avoiding Long getting isolated as much)
Kidd 27
Barlow 25
Goulding 25
Ili 12
Pledger 9
Acuil and SM 11

If Kidd is elite wing defender who can quietly contribute 10ppg then this could be formidable. Should beat Perth and be a Fighting chance against Sydney

If Kidd is a elite defender he could contribute no points and be exactly what United need, they have enough scorers elsewhere.
