Kings v Sixers Jan 4

Sixers are undefeated this decade, but face a team who with two losses in a row will have had a very unpleasant bus trip from the Gong new years day...

Kings are top of the table for a reason. A wallet fatter than a Chinese billionaire has seen them assemble a well oiled team. Sixers are a bit of a sow's purse. They can beat anyone on their day, but they are an emotional team who wear their hearts on their sleeves. I just had a look at the moon and it's a waxing gibbous moon. No hairy backs tonight, except for the Bogie man, who is set to dominate the boards.

I've given him my kiss of death before, but I think Sean Bruce is the secret litmus indicator for the Kings. When he is doing the little things they seem to win, and sadly for the Sixers fan, I think the Kings will king hit the Sixers tonight. Just like MacGyver, the Sixers will see a lot of action and get themselves in and (sometimes) out of trouble, but won't go home with the girl.

Kings by 8 - expect a near 200 point game

Does anyone have news on when Lisch and Moller are back?

The above two missing and Bogut nursing something (back?) has seemed a good part of their problem. I have Sydney the favorite but with Louzada still out and Sixers mentally back on course again I fancy a wager on Sixers at 3.10 & +5.5, plus Over 189.5

JackT, as usual, wonderful preview. Missed a metaphoric opportunity, though, with your, "I think the Kings will king hit the Sixers tonight.", comment."

Just 3 little words. "I think the Kings will king hit the Sixers (for a six) tonight."

Maybe too much Xmas cheer, Jack?

... and a happy new year to all!

Tough assignment for the kings, Sixers got finals spot to play for so should be up for this contest but have been very inconsistent. Griffin v Tate could be interesting with height and agility v strength and smarts. If Johnson starts hitting threes on Bogut, Kickett going to have a busy night. Ware v Randle could be interesting, will both play hero ball or team first. This could be Newley game to take over offensively. This will be a high scoring game, certainly with Moller and now Didi out.

Adelaide by 3.

Sixers need to go back to DJ 3pt blueprint to win this. He has exposed Bogut before by hitting a couple of early 3's dragging him out to defend and opening up keyway.

I think the Kings have lost 5 of their last 7 games their offence really spluttering without Lisch and co to lighten the load on Ware but given the Sixers aversion to anything resembling defence it wouldn't surprise me if we play the Kings right back into form tonight.

Adelaide have been phenomenal at getting teams out of form, to find form real quick. They'll most likely bow down to the kings, and people will see the few wins they get against the cats each season is just a case of oddly good matchup for them.

Article on kings website say Didi next week Moller and lisch February. Nbl website game write up is actually now realising how much Moller has meant to the kings. Rebounding and being able to defend multiple positions. Tate, Newley Ware haven't looked as good with him out and his help out D.

The haters can now say his crap but stats don’t show that.

No we played well against Perth in Perth.

This season:

Last time @ Sydney we lost by 20, one game @ Perth so far we won, two games @ Melbourne we lost by 19 & 22 and one game @ Cairns so far we lost by around 8 or 9 points.

No, Wright is just a stubborn old cranky prick, still angry because Jerome back chatted him against Perth. Almost cost the game then (lucky the refs bailed them out with "fouls" called on Hunt, Kay and Majok kicking them out of the game), and will probably cost us today.

If you don't get it from Joey then I hate to tell ya it's not coming from anyone else. Harry needs someone to not baby him! It's his off court team not giving him the direction! Filling his head with NBA nonsense and not giving him the hard truths that's he's fat, slow and looking unplayable at that sloppy weight! Everyone is dancing around it but that's it! Agreed if there's one player I definitely don't want to see back at the Sixers next season it's Froling. Any promise he showed last season he's completely undone this season. He's a liability out there just no heart whatsoever and this was actually one of his better games of the season at least he hit the boards he's normally totally useless.

He can go and be another team's problem somewhere else and I would take Jawai over him any day of the week. Jawai although off the bench in limited minutes has acquitted himself pretty well this season unlike Froling.

You go support Harry and all Australians athletes like you say! This is a sports fan forum where people talk about what's best for their teams!!!! Not kids help line! If a player has let themselves go and is not been professional or taken care of their conditioning they get let go and moved on! This is not Harry not being instructed to fuel right to be a pro! I know we live in a "everyone's a victim" world but Harry is no victim here.

Joey is a great motivator of players and trains extremely hard. If you're a immature player who talks back and always thinks you're right then Joey is the perfect coach for you! He doesn't take any crap and he will drive you to be the best you can be!

You think Mike Kelly is a push over but he still has the respect and has to place discipline on Machado and Oliver plenty.

This is not a day care centre where we need to encourage and baby kids! This is a pro league! If you disrespect it you will be out.

Harry looks unplayable right now! This ain't on Joey!

Drimic has had a good year by his standards but still very inconsistent, he's a bench player. Moore and McVeigh are also bench players at best. Joey is trying to put in players that play defensively, yes Teys should also be a bench player but he has a go. When most your team are bench players at best you got start someone. Joey midis touch has gone with this team. Sobey the no body became a good player under Joey, he’s now back to his average self. In the end you got have some real quality and on overall team balance Joey has not put that together, buck stops there.

Are some of the Australian player's issues from a productivity standpoint point guard related?

I see similarities with how some of Boston’s young players showed star potential in the year Kyrie was injured but stagnated last year when he was injured (ie Tatum and Brown).

This year with Kyrie gone the same players at Boston are performing at a very high level.

Hypothetical. Replace Randle with Machado and would we see increased performance/productivity from the younger Australian players?

Randle is clearly a talent as is Kyrie. But my opinion is the performance of some of the players is down as a result of his individual talent.

Thoughts?
