Casper Ware...

Why do people think Ware is an upgrade on Randle? He has been so hot and cold this year with the Kings and his shooting has been woeful.

Ware:

20.8ppg (39%) (3pt 29%) (FT 78%)
2.8rpg
3.8apg
2.1topg
0.5spg

In comparison to other top point guards in the league:

Randle:

20.2ppg (46%) (3pt 36%) (FT 91%)
2.9rpg
4.4apg
2.5topg
0.8spg

Roberson:

20.6ppg (48%) (3pt 45%) (FT 85%)
2.1rpg
5.4apg
3.3topg
1.8spg

Trimble:

21.0ppg (48%) (3pt 34%) (FT 82%)
3.8rpg
4.8apg
2.4topg
0.9spg

Cotton:

21.9 (43%) (3pt 39.9%) (FT 80%)
4.0rpg
3.7apg
2.2topg
1.7spg

Machado:

16.1 (44.3) (3pt 39%) (FT 86.6%)
3.3rpg
8.4apg
2.9topg
1.4spg

Pretty clear Ware doesn't stack up to these names.

Perth need to spend decent money on an athletic centre. Dario hunt hasn't set the world on fire. They could do with chasing an aussie bigman in Reath or Mathiang, hey even offering Ogilvy a deal..they then could then look for an import point guard to start with Norton off the bench (assuming Damo retires.) And keep the duo of White/Steindl at the SF.

OK I thought this was a Casper Ware topic but since you mention it I send my thoughts and prayers to the Perth Wildcats who are languishing in unfamiliar territory down at the very bottom of the top 2 and clearly in desperate need of big changes. I hear they are stuggling to get more than 12000 people to their games and their annual profits are less than $2 mil

If the game was only played at the offensive end Casper would be ranked alongside those other guys

He's a better defender than any of them though

Stats don't give everything. Casper much better in certain situations than others, which there is no stats for.

Well no... Ware has been putrid shooting the 3 ball and his defense hasn't actually been that good especially in games against other elite guards. He got absolutely pantsed by Roberson the last time they played. Shut down completely by Martin (shot 3-15 when guarded by him.), Trimble dropped 32 on him. If you look at it his defense hasn't been that good at all, out of all those names he is also averaging the least amount of steals per game. The fact people actually think this guy is a difference maker is a joke. The Kings appear to be sliding backward with him at the helm at the moment, or perhaps their old legs are just tired.

Overall Casper Ware is the best guard in the league however he had a really bad start to last season got it together the rest of the season but this season at the Kings has gone back to how he was playing in the first 10-12 games of last season hogging the ball too much and chucking hoping to shoot himself out of his season long shooting slump.

Also I don't think it's helped with Lisch being out virtually all season as he would likely be the the second offensive option behind Ware. Ware's ability to play very good defence is what separates him from the Cotton's and Randle's of the league.

I hope MD was joking about offering Ogilvy a deal.

He wasn't brought in to be the Kings sole offensive threat they would've expected Lisch and perhaps Newley & Louzada to lighten the load on him. Lisch has only played 3-4 games this season (and came back way too early last time), Newley has dropped away a fair bit as has Bogut too and Louzada has been a bit disappointing.

Ware is being asked to carry the offensive load single-handedly of course he's buggered and chucking a fair bit now that makes the Kings a lot easier to guard and their offence is spluttering but what is the best the Sixers play them right back into form tonight though!

As scary as it sounds he has actually been decent this season but regardless the Hawks have a team option on him for next season.

Just back to the Perth conundrum quickly - Ogilvy thing was sort of a joke but Ogilvy isn't as bad as people make him ouy to be. He is inconsistent yes. However I do believe Perth would bring the best out of Ogilvy. They always seem to get the best out of each player.

Steindl was horrendous for a while at Perth, he is starting to find form again now. Majok Majok is looking like a decent signing all of a sudden. Kay will find form again when it counts and White and Cotton continue to be difference makers.

Hang on... wow... come on seriously? Ware being compared to Cotton? I mean... wow. You ask every single coach/ staff member and fan who they would take to start a team in this league and 10/10 times it is Cotton over Ware. Ware may have a slight defensive edge on Cotton, but Cotton causes havoc for defenses and has always outplayed Ware.

Lisch has played one and half games. First game of season and half game on return. Big loss.

Ware is an upgrade on Randle from a TEAM perspective, not a "go out and get as many stats as possible" perspective, because he's a better fit... When he's on form, the team is on form and clicking... The combo with Bogues is a MUCh better fit in general and the ability to work at both ends is a big improvement...

He's being overworked lately and has turned in some mixed performances, but it's not a coincidence that him being off form coincides with the teams lack of success... There's a weird vibe in the team atm, and at the members signing session a couple of games ago, it was like pulling teeth to get Ware to even look up to acknowledge anyone lining up... Other players were distracted with conversations and sometimes rude with that attitude, but at least they weren't looking like they were at a funeral...

If he fixes what's going on mentally, maybe that will fix some of his in-game issues...
