Maybe some new blood.

It would be interesting to know who Brown will be choosing as his coaching staff. You'd think he would know already and one would have to be a local in Australia.
They could do a USA style approach and appoint a past coach like they did with Van Gundy (ie: maybe someone working at AIS or BA) to guide them through.
Or he just installs Weaver or Lemanis to get this squad through on the previous structures & systems?
Mind you Brown might be out of a job if Philly keep losing and could do himself!
Think all this should have a big say on personnel picked.

Would like to see more younger players called up with a handful of veterans.
Brown won't be coaching, NBA/Euro guys won't be there.
Pick a squad with guys like Magnay, Dech, Naar and Noi for example with Kay, Norton, Creek, Goulding and Drmic and a few others.
I would love to see G League players in the squad

Naar/ Sobey
McCarron/ Goulding / Dech
Creek / Noi
Kay / Cooks/ Magnay
DJ / AJ
Deck twice the point guard that Naar is. Plays both ends, doesn't get bullied and has good handles.
Dech, McCarron, Norton
Goulding, Sobey
Moller, Drimic, Blanchfield
Kay, Cook
Johnson, Magnay.
Versatility across all spots.
With SEM missing play offs I'd think Creek would be in US, hopefully on an nba contract to finish season or in euro league.

"Deck twice the point guard that Naar is. Plays both ends, doesn't get bullied and has good handles."
I would absolutely have him in the squad, he can play 1 or 2.
Doesn't really matter where he's listed, as long as he makes the team, coach can use him how he wants.
Will they take any players out of the finals sides???. Noi and Moller look like not being available???

Agree with the Dech inclusion, D2.0. Been very impressed with his on-court skills and seems to have good b/b IQ too. NBL MIP between him and Pinnau for mine.
I also feel that it would be great to have as many of our European-based players in there if available. Lately, these guys don't seem to make the team, for whatever reason(s)(Lansdale the exception and a good example). Real good chance that they won't make Tokyo so let them in for Asia Cup Qualifiers.
Sobey / Naar / Adnam
Dech / Gliddon
Drmic / Blanchfield
Creek / Magnay
Johnson / Ogilvy / pineau
With no top 4
Sydney, Perth, cairns, Melbourne.

To be fair, Pero Cameron has already said he'll be selecting a Tall Blacks team who are Aus-based, who are not lead players in the Aussie NBL.
Seems like the possible options are very limited. Izayah Le'afa, Jordan Hunt, Taylor Britt, Isaac Davidson are four - I don't know how NZ will get to 12.

What? Still no DJ? Yet you've got Froling in, as a 4, where DJ has proven his worth over several years in the NBL. Froling has shone at state league level but been mediocre at NBL level. He is not a defensive stud or rim-protector nor is he a reliable scorer let alone a big-time scorer. So why is he there? 'Cos he is BIG? So is DJ and he CAN and does score, big! Dj also a team-mate of Humph so continuity and familiarity there, which has got to be good team-wise. Yeah, Froling is team-mates with Sobes and Drmic but not as relevant as DJ and Humph.
Another observation, for me, is that Sobey is listed above as PG. IMO, both McCarron and Giddey before Sobey AS PG, BUT Sobey ahead of Dech and Vasljevic as SG. Dech, maybe, could be considered as a CG (Combo Guard) and fit in to 1 or 2 spot as required.
PG: McCarron/Giddey/Dech
SG: Sobey/Vasljevic
SF: Creek/Adel/Drmic
PF: White/DJ
Cs: Landale/Humphries
Notable that Cadee is missing as is Lemanis.

I think dj is salty from years past, I don't think he wants in.

Apparently Cotton needs to, get ready as this one is a real howler - leave the country to resume his citizenship application, or otherwise start the whole process from scratch. What an utterly non-sensical requirement during these COVID times. Moronic government as per usual.
BA have tried contacting ministers for an exemption to either of the above options but received no response. Our tax dollars are hard at work.

Perth were good on Sunday night. They are definitely a threat when Cotton is naturalised. Sucks United got 2 long term injuries this round.
Is DJ, Daniel Johnson who is -65 +/- after 4 rounds of NBL, the worst in the league by a long way.

"Australia will also be without their ANBL or overseas-based players, meaning the Boomers will be represented by young Basketball Australia centre of excellence talent or semi-professionals playing in second-tier leagues." According to Stuff.co.nz.
Well, this will be interesting. Anyone able to name the best Australian team made up of NBL DPs and top NBL1 talent?
Dufelmeier
Sapwell
Dent
Galloway
Woodhill
Short
Hulland
Harris
+ Coe stock
Worth noting that NZ are in even deeper trouble - "It's even more complicated for New Zealand, with quarantine periods meaning they will have to field a team of Australian-based players."
I would imagine the top NBL1 level players would play but I wouldn't like to be picking either team.
Full team:⠀
Taran ARMSTRONG⠀
Hunter CLARKE⠀
Dyson DANIELS⠀
Hunter GOODRICK⠀
Matt KENYON⠀
Jack McWILLIAMS⠀
David OKWERA⠀
Tyrese PROCTOR⠀
Patrick RYAN⠀
Reyne SMITH⠀
Alex TOOHEY⠀
Harry WESSELS
Daniels
Armstrong
Kenyon
Goodrick
Okwera
Proctor
Smith
Clarke
Ryan
Wessels
Toohey
McWilliams
Why didn't they choose guys from nbl1?
Can only imagine what kind of squad nz will have.
Some great future talent in Daniels, Proctor and Okwera though.
Matt Kenyon lol.
Really should have rewarded the best nbl1 guys over these kids.
A loss to Guam next round and we will have to go through another qualyfying round.
Can anyone put a potential nbl1 squad together?

Don't the CoE play in NBL 1?
Anyway, Smacks of Lemanis type of national's selection, jobs for the boys!
