United v Hawks Feb 8

This time of year clubs look forward to playing the bottom team and United would be expecting a win tonight. United have been travelling poorly, but Hawks have been travelling woefully.

You would be hard pressed to find someone tipping a Hawks win tonight, but hey anything is possible in this crazy world.

United are not playing good basketball and if they look like losing they will be the ones hoping for rain and a leaky roof. As disunited as they are, United should beat the Hawks. United by 12

Should be interesting. United need to win by 20+. Got the feeling they'll end up struggling to even win...

Hawks on 8 game losing streak, average margin 17

United by 15

That'll put their percentage right alongside NZ's. Should be a good finish to the season.

United by 35, they will smell blood and Illawarra will cave in.

Surely the Hawks could have found 2 better imports than Hobson and Preston? Maybe there were some good college grads looking for exposure or even some vets that had been cut or didn't pick up the contract they wanted this year.

While there has been much talk of the Hawks "young Aussie" core, that core has struggled for consistency across 40 minutes let alone games. But their vets have also struggled. Blanch field, in particular, is disappointing. On this team he should be scoring 20+. When he first came on the scene, I thought he’d be the next Abercrombie. Maybe better. But he isn’t close.

And as underwhelming as United has been, I just can’t see the Hawks winning this. United’s season will survive for just one more game.

United are capable of dropping this one, but I think Long will be huge with no big body to keep him out of the paint. United by 10-15.

Hopefully the Hawks don't keep persisting with Hobson & play the younger guys. Hawks may still lose but a lot better for the future by playing them

Hopefully they stop persisting with Flynn

Why is Prather sitting on the bench? What are the rules?

Hopefully we get another lengthy discussion on this topic.

Good point Angus, the bias to United is disgusting. Homicide and Heal can you believe it, woeful.

Homicide legitimately has no idea how plus/minus works.

Why wouldn't he be? He's out injured at the moment they're still paying him he signed a 2 year contract.

Heal and Homicide making excuses for why United haven't been as good as expected this season. They know where their bread is buttered

It was a joke because some knob was crapping on about Marto sitting on Perth's bench last week, and posted a bunch of outdated and meaningless rules.

And the reffing? Shit as well?

United just seem to be going through the motions to win. I'm not sure if it’s confidence or arrogance, but they’re playing like they expect to win the next two and that that will be enough. (I’m on mute, so maybe the expert commentators have something interesting to say about the reasons why.)

Where to for Illawarra ? The only positive I can think off is that Cairns were in a similar position last season.

Except Illawarra supposedly have a shaky ownership position?

Who from their roster are signed for next year?

Hopefully no body, there young players are not as good as there reputation and there old blokes are old. Start with new owner and offer a few players minimum contracts with incentives re game wins. They don't play or defend as a team. Rubbish.

United fans acting like they've just won a Championship.

Pathetic.

These Hawks would be right down there with the 88 SuperCats.

Froling (2 years left)
Blanchfield (player option?)
Naar (player option?)
Ogilvy (team option?)
Dech (team option?)
Glover (team option?)

Coenraad, Grida and Andersen are FA's.

United still need to win their next 2 games, but if they do they'll probably make playoffs based on percentage, unfortunately. I would rather see 4th place go to the Breakers or Bullets.

Players signed next year for Hawks I believe
Dech 1 year remaining
Glover 1 year remaining
Froling 2 years remaining
Narr team/player option ?
Blanchfield player option ?

Game would have sold out weeks ago before Lamelo Ball decided we wasn't coming back. This was the only home game United had against Illawarra.

Get two solid imports.
Keep Naar, Dech , Glover and Froling.
Andersen to retire. Coenraad keep as cheap veteran. Allow Ogilvy and Blanchfield to explore open market.

That would be a good start for Illawarra.
Keep third import spot available for later use in the season.

Hawks for me next year

Import / Narr

PG scoring import
PF scoring import
C that can rebound & defend

Is Blanchfield quality enough to start, he's hasn’t played well at Melbourne or Sydney and odd good game for hawks.
