SEM v MEL Feb 16

Melbourne has one job today, win.

The NBL could not have scripted this any better, it's like they employed the script writers from Summer Bay and left cranky old Alf in the bait shop.

4th spot has been a riddle for some time. Early in the round it was New Zealand, suddenly it's become the Banana bending Bullets. Now, all the Soy Boys have to do is play as one for 40 mins and scrape up a win against the new boys on the block. This game could the kind of game that in 20 years time when people say "why do United fans hate Phoenix so much?" "Oh back in 2020 United were up by 2 with 1.3 seconds on the clock and this codger called Gibson threw up a hail Mary on the buzzer to beat United by 1. That was the season Cairns beat Sydney in the finals"

No Creek means SEM need to lift. Can they pull off a miracle win to rain on Melbourne's parade? There's 8 clubs barracking for the new boys. We saw the Melbourne of olde a few days ago when CG43 came to the party. Long must be up for contract renewal because the Long we saw against Cairns was hungry for points. All the baristas in Brunswick were cheering.

Gee, it would be a great win if they could pull it off, but it's hard to see SEM, who are up Mitch Creek without a paddle, pull off a remarkable win. Like a drunk Irishman in a Belfast pub, they will refuse to go quietly so United should not expect a walk in the park.

United to squeeze the toothpaste tube just enough to get to 4th

After Brisbane's 36 point walloping of Cairns, United now needs to win by 2 points unless they score 77 or less and win by 1.

If United wins say, 90 to 89 Brisbane gets in. If United win 77 to 76 or 76 to 75 etc United still gets in. If United wins 78 to 77 they have EXACT same % as Brisbane. Might revert to head to head?

Sorry no, is too late, United is +59 not +49. All they need to do is win.

United will win easy, Phoenix have been vigilant in turning up every week, playing hard but just don't have the talent, no Creek as well, no chance.

It would great to dream of big Dan Trist on free throw line knocking down two with one second left to win game, now that would be pay back.

United by an easy 20.

Sad it wasn't a bit more interesting. Blame Cairns for lying down.

2-18 in four minutes so far. What a farce.

Pathetic but predictable comments about the referees. You can't be watching this game if you think this early score is due to them.

Good win for United. Not sure they can beat the Kings but nice to see the team spirit has improved. Barlow and Goulding were outstanding. Trimble off the bench seems to give them a more balanced look. Long still struggling but hit some form late.

Devondrick Walker didn't really deliver on his promise of being a three-point threat. Wildcats may have dodged a bullet having him miss out last season.
