Creek and Long both deserved to be ahead of Bogut.

Bogut played 21 minutes a game. He was good, but had moments where he was beaten, like the day Magnay absolutely destroyed him.

Long the best player on a playoff team. Creek was top 3 or so in MVP betting until a month or so ago. Both had a better argument.

Both of them had better first half than 2nd half of season. Maybe some recency bias.

Agreed

Long was a revolving door on defence, Creek a little unlucky but both sides pretty good.

Long had 14 double doubles including some monster games. United's best player. A team who spent most of the season in the top 3.

Defence shaky at times, but led league in rebounding and the top scoring big man in the comp

Creek omission from the second team and Bogut in his place is a disgrace

Yeah the omission of Creek is staggering and Bogut ahead of Long is nuts too.

To provide how stupid Creek's omission is, he was amongst the MVP candidates.
Clearly the biggest mistake of the awards

Got to give something to Bogurt other wise he would have a sook and wings to the NBL and threaten all sorts of things.

How does Hopsin miss out with 34 points when others in the first team have less points than him.

He's an outside player. Three outside, two inside per team.

How does the points system work / what is the maximum points possible? Seeing as Machado got 2 more points than Cotton does it mean there were some people that didn't have Cotton on the 1st team? Strange if so.

It must mean that, yes.
46 seems an unusual number too (in terms of what it's a multiple of), so I'm guessing that Machado wasn't a unanimous choice for the starting backcourt either.

Disagree on Creek and Long. United wouldn't be in the finals in any other year wit he garbage they served up this season and Long didn’t look/play like a leader at all. Keep your stats as that one was an easy eye test. Creek faded really badly towards the end of the season. Once again numbers were there at times but the impact dropped way off as Phoenix began to make up the numbers half way through the season. The all league team has to have an element of winning and leadership to it.

How do you figure? It's been almost a decade since a team went 15-13 and missed the playoffs, and two teams did that this year. The obvious conclusion is that it was far harder to make the playoffs this year than most years, not that it was easier.

Exactly Koberulz

15-13 with a good percentage- United had a poor record in close games. Could've very easily been 16-12 or 17-11.

United's season was a lot like Long's, unsurprisingly. On their worst days, abysmal, disfunctional and defensively weak. On their good days, very, very good, unstoppable and fast, mixing up great outside shooting, opening it up for Long to dominate inside.

United scored 100 points on 10 occasions- equal highest in the league. Given this was the highest scoring season of the 40 minute era, that's probably a record for the 40 minute era.

Long had 20 points, 10 rebounds on 9 occasions- including games against Sydney, Perth and Cairns. United was 7-2 across those 9 games, the only losses being by 3 pts against SEM and 5 pts vs Cairns.

Like I said earlier, there's recency bias going against Long- before yesterday's win against SEM his last 20-10 game was the December 21 win in Perth, where United absolutely destroyed them with Long going for 23 and 13 on 10-14 shooting.

FWIW I'd have Long, Creek, Oliver, Kay and Tate my top 5 bigs. One of them would be unlucky to miss out. Hard to decide that 5th.

Bogut's inclusion on the other hand, is a bit of a joke.

Well done everyone chosen.
That second team would give the first team a run for their money on the court, I'd say possibly even beat the first team in a game.

Ware had a very average year by his standards. Ware over Roberson is absolute crap.

You might be right ^ I hope Roberson returns next season, one of stand outs this season.

Totally agree with the last 2 comments, Ware almost got by on an expectation that he will dominate in playoffs and his average season will be forgotten. I'd definitely have Roberson over Ware and maybe even Sobey over Ware too.

Bogut was definitely fortunate to make an all NBL team but he will dominate in the playoffs too.

No issues with anybody else selected and well done to them all

Ware plays defence, so does Bogut, at last selections rewarded this. It's amazing that Sydney finished first, had so many bad players and injuries.
