Shock, horror. 36ers release Kevin White.

I believe the 36ers released a media statement today to the effect that they had released Kevin White and informed the NBL that he was now a free agent.

I was pro Kevin White for calling out what needed to be exposed in relation to the former coach. But as a fan of the team, never did understand the signing, so it's a good thing to free up the space. Ofcourse I don’t have any faith the 6ers will utilise the spot to get better... so there’s that tidbit.

Kevin White should be banned from playing any professional sports for damaging the Sixers' brand the way he did.

Shameful that a 'pro' sportsman would act this this despicable manner.

To be fair to Kevin, he tried his best and gave so much to the program. He will always be remembered as a true 36ers champion, and someone who was dedicated to his craft both on and off the court. He will be hot property in free agency I'm sure..........

White will never play NBL again.

He should never have aired that dirty laundry in public. Then getting stuck into another teammate who disagreed with him - that isn't leadership.

Seems the Sixers are cleaning house, which is absolutely the right thing to do. Everybody in that debacle needs to go. All the coaching staff, gone. Start afresh. There'd be some nervous players currently contracted as well. With a new coach comes new ideas and new judgements on whether you can play. Very easy to fall off the gravy train and find yourself anchored to the bench.

I agree with that. Also not terrible to clean out anyone who might have fans/others strongly offside.

White posted a screenshot of a conversation he wasn't privy to and displayed it with no context. Wright said some awful things but White used that info to try and absolve the players of any responsibility in the mess. That's very ordinary.

Drmic 27 years old
Griffin 29
DJ 31
Moore 30
Teys 29
Randle 32*

Tell me when you've got Teys coming off the bench - why were they thinking of adding a veteran influence. Especially when that player has never averaged over 5 points a game and a try hard defender.

Role should have gone to a player with a future or grab a veteran who can contribute (a Greg Hire type and in that case Teys goes or you just ride with Teys and leave White to pursue a career off the court).

He then called out a kid team member on social media too. Nice way to repay the guy who through hime a lifeline. He ratted on his team mates all year and then flipped to try and protect himself. Great guy

"We can't all be on big bucks anonymous." Correct me if I am wrong but isn't it eh last 5? players on the roster that HAVE to be paid $400k plus amongst them all? THat's big bucks seeing it used to be 1/2 that.

White should never been signed in the first place least of all for 2 years. He just was NBL level and realistically never was. But he did the correct thing exposing Wright who had become a law unto himself over the last 2 years.

He exposed Wright in more ways than one unknowingly, namely being signed, which exposed Wright's ability to select players.

For the captain to argue with a teammate who was just a kid sticking up for his coach was petty.

Huge amount of experience being lost to system. Increases pressure on teys now. Team needs settling identies to bring crew together..
If caporn not coach - how is it white delisted. Shouldn't coach in waiting be making such calls.

Wright was going to be exposed for what he was, just happened to be a guy who would've already known he wasn't coming back that spilled the beans. The leak, although ugly from every angle, was just a snippet into the world of Wright. He who has spent so long building up a 'perfect character' persona. He probably would've held it too, if he hadn't done that weird interview with John Casey, throwing the players, who have a future in basketball, under the bus.

The 2 W's wont be missed at Adelaide. But, I do commend Kevin for exposing some of the real truths about the coach. Ive worked for assholes in the past, and you cringe every time they act one way in front of certain people, to that, behind closed doors. If you're a jerk, be a jerk, own it.

Yet there are a big number of past players that will do anything for Joey from the past decade of coaching in Australia.

Yeah I reckon most would stab him in the back. No loss to the NBL that's for sure.

Past players? They seemed pretty damn mute when he could've used a positive spin.

What did White expose though? What he did was release a screenshot that should have been been a private message between people. It wasn't necessary for people to see that so I did feel for Joey when that happened. And I was a fed up with him as the next person.
