Joe Ingles says he is prepared to 'walk away, fly to Australia and never play another game in my life and be very content with it' to protect his family from the virus as the NBA eyes a possible return in July.

Come to the NBL even if it means neglecting your home town team because of incompetent administration instances!

Not the first Australian to threaten to boycott a basketball competition over a virus.

You don't actually believe this do you? While I'm sure Ingles is a family man & good husband/father - his personality is rather contrived. He tries to act like he doesn't care about anything or his millions.

At his point in his career its completely believable. He has already made his money and stated its too much money already.

I can see him potentially retiring to the NBL slightly early regardless in a couple years time. Particularly if his role regresses a bit.

Why stay in the NBA to warm the bench when you can return to Australia for a better lifestyle closer to your family.

Has made more money in last 5 years than most will in a lifetime.
Has young children, very believable that he would consider coming back.
Should do it soon will be 33 in October.

Not every millionaire sits around counting their money, he comes across as a regular Joe (pardon the pun).

"Why stay in the NBA to warm the bench"

Moot point given he was a likely starter with Bogdanovic having season-ending surgery.

What makes you say that is contrived?

I fully expect to see Ingles and maybe Delly in the NBL to end their careers

Baynes would destroy the NBL. It'll be great to watch but he'd be unstoppable.

I have no doubt when the NBA resumes in Orlando in July.
Joe and Delly will be there cashing in those big fat cheques

Can't read the full story due to pay-wall
BUT, this seems to be old news???

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2882857-jazzs-joe-ingles-says-hed-walk-away-from-nba-to-protect-his-son-from-covid-19

At last two of his teammates tested positive, so this would have been very real for Ingles. As he explains, his son has a weakened immune system, so something like this is very scary, and really he is just stating the obvious. That if he was able to choose, he'd put the health of his family first.

PlaymakerMo I clearly said in a couple years.

If Joe is starting the NBA in two years time I will eat my hat.

It would be cool to see Ingles dominate the NBL if he retires from the league

But if he truly wants a ring he should stay, although he secured the bag

Ingles: "For context, I said this over 2 months ago when we knew nothing about the virus & what it could do. I know the Jazz/NBA would only have us play if they were confident that everyone's health has been put first. When it's safe to go back and play, I will not let my teammates down!"
