Launceston Silverdome for new Tas team

Now that the new Tax team has been confirmed it's been mentioned that they'll play at least some games in Lancaster with the Silverdome mentioned. It has hosted a ANZ netball game and holds 5000 people. Anyone know if it's a good venue for NBL or will it need major upgrades to be up to scratch?

Meant Tas not Tax, however the Tas gov put a lot into Derwent.

It needs massive upgrades. 3 games expected in the North. Not sure the N/W is NBL suitable.

It'll be fine, you go to watch basketball, plus the catering was good. Australia spends to much time and money on stadiums, most euro clubs have stadiums from 3000 to 8000. I’d rather have better quality players earning more than expensive stadiums certainly in the smaller populated areas.

Parking and transport are the biggest problem with the silverdome.

Silverdome is a velodrome. Seating will be away from the court unless they bring in temporary stands to be close to the court

Parking is an issue but otherwise a good venue

Not up to NBL standards sorry. That's already known.

Surely a venue with capacity that is profitable is key so if the locals turn up and enjoy it that's what does "nbl standard" really mean?

NBL standard for one means you have to have a venue that is capable of having good lighting for TV coverage. PLus a shit load of other things. You don't need to spend 5 minutes walking to and from the changerooms either.

Here is what Cairns are now facing if they have to move to the Fishtank to play their NBL games. NBL standard.
