Official Updated NBL Free Agency List

Melbourne United captain Chris Goulding heads the list of free agents for the 2020-21 Hungry Jack's NBL season.

The Hungry Jack's NBL has released the list of free agents ahead of the start of the official free agency period next Wednesday July 15.

Goulding, who won the 2018 NBL Grand Final MVP, headlines the free agency list that also includes Anthony Drmic (Adelaide 36ers), Harry Froling (Adelaide 36ers), Cam Gliddon (Brisbane Bullets) and Todd Blanchfield (The Hawks).

A number of players have already been re-signed by their clubs and clubs can sign free agents from next Wednesday when free agency begins.

The Lavalle-Ball crew had it all sorted, players, trainings, coaching staff, etc. etc. yet LK went the other way & apart from delivering us Goorjian, seems like the only thing else we're getting is a big fat duck egg full of excuses right now : (

Lavalle was going with the existing coach and had new assistant coaches ready. The players were training at the snake pit under Flinn. All has stopped and players agents are looking elsewhere. The whole thing is set to fail, and people who don't no much about hawks the snake pit is the centre of everything basketball, senior and junior teams.
Before everyone starts bagging Flinn, how did Kelly go first season or even the great Gleeson do at Melbourne.

I can't believe people are whinging about the new owners already.

Flinn's last NBL season = Wooden spoon

Goorjian's last NBL season = Championship

If you don't know anything about Goorjian he's got standards he's not going to sign some scrubs just because they're local hell the team are just called the Hawks now if that wasn't enough of a give away about where their future lies.

That's not how it works.

If Glover, or anyone else goes elsewhere, it will be because they got a better offer. End of story.
At the risk of pointing out the bleeding obvious, if they are intent on signing elsewhere due to aforementioned better offer, then they're not going to re-sign with the Hawks just because you say so.

If you argument is that Lamello would have offered them more money than Goorjan, well then I don't think any further reply is necessary.

I think I speak for most Hawks Fans when I say how bitterly disappointed I am with the appointment of Brian Goorjan. Seriously, these new owners are clueless. We had a great thing going and they rooned it.

The whole point of being a Hawks fan, is being able to constantly bitch and moan, without actually going to games or supporting the team in any way.
FFS, if they stop being an embarrassment, then we lose our excuse for not going to games.

If this shit is allowed to continue, they're going to start winning games, and people will have to start buying fucking tickets. Where does it end?
Before ya know it, they'll be in the damn play-offs and we'll have to fork out for more tickets.

Wow. What have I done to upset 'Knowledge Delayed' ?

No hiding from me, yes, I'm tight with the Lavalle's (it's spelt with an a not an e FTR) & am lucky to talk to a few people around the traps, but you're hating on our Mercury too?

Flinn wasn't coming back as head coach, there was going to be a HOF coaching director, then Flinny getting his second crack.

No other coach coulda done any better last season with all the cards Flinn got dealt.

Free agency wise, I'm all for Goorj, I was a Kings fan as a kid, but if the new Hawks are trying to win some local love, letting Angus leave for the PurpleFilth & not picking up Timmy (who was one of our best players last year) is a bad move.

AJ would be a very good back up centre at any club.

Blanchfield a good back up 3 at any club.

I love Emmett, though can't see him starting anywhere in the league.

Dech, great, hope we keep him, but he's a tweener, not really a 1 or a 2, but a really good defender & effort kind of guy.

Froling's got a high ceiling & had a disrupted year. Not a starter yet, but could be an NBL starter in a year or so.

If we end up with Brandt, Adel, + 2 quality imports, I'm stoked, but we're crazy if we don't snap up Gus ASAP.

Having to replace Kay with an import, and being an import spot down, mens we're basically down TWO spots. We need a local centre. As such Brandt becomes a valuable commodity. There's continued speculation Reath wants to exit his Serbian contract, but otherwise we're looking at trying to recycle a Veteran , or pluck a young guy from obscurity.

If Perth go for a local 3 man what names jump out other than Blanchfield?

Depends on the direction Trev wants to go.
In the past he's been happy to play stretch-4s in the SF role, especially off the bench. But in recent seasons has pushed more towards a wing player with very good outside shooting.
The issue with a young guy is that they already have Lo Buluk, are looking to develop Travers, and probably another youngster as their next backup PG (Britt?)
I think there are other options, but things will become a lot clearer over the next week as free-agents are signed up.

Anonytroll(s) just making shit up again.
Perth could never have had Brandt off the bench behind an import. They need their backup centre to be cheap and fit within the bench-cap, and that was never going to happen with Brandt.
Brandt was out of contract, and for the money he was being offered elsewhere, Trev thought he could do better with an import.
With Kay coming off a great season, and that extra import slot available, it was an option Trev wanted to explore.

But as I said, I found it "interesting" that they claimed Trev was still talking to him.
And as I also said, being a local makes Brandt a valuable commodity. He's made it clear he won't return to the NBL unless the money is right, but if he did there would be several teams interested. It would be good to have him back at the Cats, but there is no indication that's going to happen.

Brandt won't play for him again unless he gets marquee money. Which Perth already gave to cotton
This makes no sense.

Wrong again D2.0
It's not a bench cap , it’s for 5 players.

In future when you post, right under where it says "Reply to this topic", there is an empty white box.
If you could please remember to type in "Cretin", that would really help the rest of us keep track.

Wonder why they couldn't land any college guys or big fish?
I'm sure D2.0 will give us his "expert" opinion.

There are more than five players available for then to sign.

They already have two young up and comers in Wani and Travers (and Travers is tipped to be better than them all) so they just need a couple of pieces to complete their roster.

Taylor Britt will be an NBL legend. Travers, Wani, Cotton, Wagstaff, Martin.

That's 6 signed. Need 4 more. 2 will be imports. 2 will be Aussies. Either Goulding or Blanchfield.

Cairns should get a local Centre and keep Newbill.

Realistically they can't afford Oliver if he’s getting Euroleague offers and there are more local Centres available than wings.

Even Pledger splitting minutes at the 5 with Jawai would be fine

Would have been much deeper rosters and overall better quality league.

Several teams scrapping for nbl1 level players to fill local. Spots.

With reduced salaries bench positions aren't that appealing to some players.

As for a majority of those listed by #260 You can't miss what you didn't have.
