Cam Bairstow in advanced talks with Hawks

The Deng Adel story appears to have been walked back a little short of a confirmed signing, but Bairstow now on the cards for the Hawks also.

Sudanese-Australian wing Deng Adel and Australian big-man Cameron Bairstow are in advanced talks to join the Hawks for the 2020-21 NBL season, sources have told ESPN.
Some solid rosters starting to take shape.

I like this.

Poor pun, but genuinely interested to see if Goorj can awaken the sleeping bear.

The fear was through contract opt outs salary cuts and retirements the talent would diminish in this league.

It looks more like an upwards direction to be honest!

Bairstow's last season in Brisbane and in Lithuania he was coming off the bench, not outstanding form like a few previous seasons.

Still a good signing if true.

Will Sam Froling be signing elsewhere?

Bairstows last season in brisbane was good. He did not come off the bench but that's irrelevant - he was finally healthy and productive around the half way mark of that season. As for Lithuania, he stsrted most games but was utilised as a role player and not a first option - newsflash, most clubs in europe function in this manner.

Pinder, Humphries, King, Giddey, Adel?, Bairstow?, Wigness, J White and Vasilijevic are a good crop of locals with Motum and Landale possibly.

Froling is good but is he good enough to start.

Landale talking to Barcelona and Motum still has great value in Europe. Sure it's a possibility, but any realist would stop throwing their names around.

I honestly believe Goorj will develop Froling into a stud (providing he does re-sign with the Hawks)

He is slow and overrated. I hope for the Hawks sake this deal fails.

Slow? At 6'11 he is not exactly slow.

As for overrated, how much of his career have you followed of this 20 year old?

Just last season?

He was a star junior (on the national and international level)

He needs time and a coach that will develop him, so that he is ready to take on the big guns of the league.

I'm confident Goorj will take him to a new level

6'9"” at best, what you do in the past has nothing to do with present, never been the same since injury. Illawarra are getting players other clubs don’t want, they had bett have two gun imports.

I guess we are all entitled to our opinions.

Standing right next to Jacob Epperson, he is the exact same height and Epperson is a legit 6'11.

He was coached by Flinn. I don't think any of the Hawks Australians looked any good last season.

You are right about his injury though. It's hard to develop when you are injured.

Goorjian will push him like he has never been pushed before (physically and mentally) and will learn a hell of a lot about the game.

Time will tell.
