Hawks Sign First Import Tyler Harvey

Looks like an import that fits what we need. Anyone who can score 58 in G League is worth getting.

So the Hawks roster looks like this?

Bairstow / Froling
Import / Deng
Adel / Grida
Harvey* / Coenraad
Naar / White

This is presuming Adel's playing the 3 (rather than the 4) and Coenraad will re-sign for the umpteenth time.

I reckon...

6'4 T.Harvey(I)/6’1 E.Naar
6’5 D.Newbill?(I)/6’2 I.White/6’6 D.Grida - out tilll late jan.
6’7 D.Adel/6’8 D.Deng
6’10 B.Motum/(NS)
6’9 C.Bairstow/6’11 S.Froling

Seems like a very good signing.

But once again posters obsessing over who they think should play where. The guy can clearly play either PG or SG in our league, so wait and see what Goorj has in store.

Now cue the "D2 wrong again he's not a _G" post.

Clever signing for the Hawks at 27 still young in terms of basketball age and not another horrible import signing like Boone.

Hawks are starting to take shape and will be interesting who they sign next.

Very smart signings going on. Obviously not packed with talent BUT...... Might be a lower spend team but with all the boxes ticked and a great coach anything is possible. Long athletic wings. Check. Big rim protector/screeners. Check. Versatile big that can stretch the floor. Check. Elite shooters. Check. Distributor/passer. Check.

Hopefully we get to see another talented import in the league, I was a Brooks fan, but sucked when he got injured last season.

I don't understand why Motum is listed there is no guarentee he will even play in the NBL.
Hard to say for sure how the Hawks will go but they will sure be entertaining to watch.

"hopefuly as a backup and froling backup 4"

Some real fantasy posting going on here. I highly doubt Bairstow is signing anywhere to come off the bench. Ok, he's been out injured a while but will still come in as one of the best local bigs around

This is a boom or bust signing.

Watching his tape he is an easy scout so won't be hard to defend unless the other imports are legit as the Aussie talent is pretty poor.

Not certain Bairstow is the 4-5 that fits in with this side they are putting together, it looks a run and gun side, not Bairstow strong suit.

The sort of guard that will flourish in the NBL, lights out 3 point shooter, maybe better than Roberson, gets to the rim a little better than John also. I expect him to play the 2 with Naar starting. Hawks looking the goods so far!

Yes for all the doom and gloom around the hawks they are looking quite good. Goorgian should have a defensive set up to make them very formidable.

Agreed that this sort of import guard flourishes in the NBL. He looks more willing to go to the rim than Roberson, but in fairness he looks much taller too.

I think one of the ways to stop a Bryce Cotton 30 plus point game is to bring a player like Tyler Harvey to the squad and make Bryce play a bit more defence.

No Damien Martin any more, Cotton certainly will have to defend more. Ware was asked to always guard him and it played right in Perth favour last season as it killed his offensive game.

Whilst I think that so far Goorj has done ok rebuilding his squad, st the risk of stating the obvious his imports and remaining local signings are going to be critical.
Harvey seems good, can't really say any more except to trust Goorj's recruiting.

He's got some very promising young talent, who, ya never know, could really come on strong under Goorj, but its a big ask for them all to do that.

So, WHO are these two local Bigs?
