Boomers' Coach after Tokyo?

IF (very fanciful) Brett Brown went to Tassie or any other NBL team, that would give us 3 ex-Boomers' HCs in the league. A mini rivalry.

I would guess that Lemanis is now done, but, for after Tokyo, who would get the gig, assuming either one would want it then. Would Weaver join the contenders?

I have made this a New Topic if anyone wants to discuss those possibilities.

Please, no-one suggest Will as HC with Brian & Brett as his assistants!

I'd want to see how Goorjian does in his return to the league before I bequeath him the spot.

And I'd also like to see how Brown does at the Olympics before I jump to replace him.

Deam Vickerman and Trevor Gleeson are two names that have been roundly ignored in the conversation, but whose records warrant interest.

Will Weaver is a candidate.

But I could also imagine the team looking outside of the square. How about a Euro coach with success at world competitions?

David Blatt?

Trev got sacked after Rio. BA won't bring him back for any role

Could be that Brown is extended through to 2024 Olympics.

Meh
If we medal, Brown will be a legend and named "Coach for Life".

If we don't medal, then eff me I don't care. For the next WC send Gleeson, in bright yellow spandex (two sizes too small) and maybe he can scare the refs with his crazy sideline ranting.

That wouldn't work as he'd be correctly teched and subsequently thrown out. Still baffles me why NBL refs let him get away with it.

Brown will stay in NBA as an assistant coach

Trevor Gleeson!

A team of all NBL players for boomers will be fun!

This is audacious, but I could envision Paul Henare in that role between major events (Asia Cup etc), before bringing in another NBA coach for WC/Olympics. Tactically minded, knows the NBL guys, doesn't have a HC gig.

Henare I think would be fine but he's coaching in Japan. Strong rumours he right in the hunt for Tasmanian job.

More interested in the players after Tokyo.
2021 might be last roll of the dice for Dellavedova, Ingles, Baynes, Bogut and Mills.

Whoever coaches beyond 2021 inherits a younger squad built around Simmons, Exum etc.

Not king, a 6'5 SG.
You’ll have Mills, Cotton, Thybulle and Green

It’s funny, nz would have him in a heartbeat with there lack of sgs. They have so manyn3/4/5s but so few 1s and 2s coming through.

The pg for Aus position goes
Simmons , Exum, Giddey

Nostraballmus says forget after Tokyo FFS, get it right FOR Tokyo while this golden generation has a window.

BigBS will be one and done with the Booms in Tokyo we won't see him again coz the body's too valuable to risk in the green and gold.

Bogut Baynes Mills Ingles Sobey Dellavedova Broekhoff Motum all too old for Tokyo and the rest with no BigBen don't look like medallists to the 'Ballmus.

Window is now. 'Ballmus may be wrong but thinking back he's never failed to see the future before

I'm hoping BA aim for coaching stability, as has been a general rule for success in international ball, so Brown staying on is the best scenario. It's very rare in international basketball for teams with a new coach to achieve immediate medal success, which is why I have low expectations for the Boomers in Tokyo.

Brown is a terrible coach though, lamanis who I don't like would have done better with the great young guys we have coming in.

Still think Goorjan with his spirit is the better choice long term.

Can't wait till brondellos gone, loves her vets and runs a stale offense.

Having Talbot as a sg and George as a pf in the fast paced international game is ridiculous.
