No NBL1 in the state that's killed the most during COVID times. You sir are an idiot.

There are other states involved as well, NBL1 North, West and Central looks very likely to be running next season. I'd be curios if it will be a shortened season or pushed back in similar fashion as the NBL and start later than March/April

If there is no Victorian NBL1 League for 2021 - would players consider moving to other states to play? Is this an option that coaches would be looking at to get them to transfer clubs/comps?

If there was no NBL1 in Victoria next year (which I doubt), the employment situation across the country is not going to make it easy to just jump up and move state to play NBL1 level basketball.

Albury could easily join NSW for one season if it turns to NBL1, yeah most likely maybe just younger players who aren't in decent paying jobs to begin with will do the move but most likely people wouldn't do the move

if they do open borders around Christmas like planned, most likely will see some form of basketball in Vic by April

Will NBL1 now start while NBL is still on??

I was thinking the same thing, I think one off they will run both along side one another and have a shortened season as well of NBL1 (maybe bubble style like NZNBL or CEBL did quite well with) or there is potential for the NBL1 starting at the end of the NBL season i.e pushing it back around September next year which I doubt as it will cause scheduling issues where the next season will have to be delayed too as it would finish around March 2022

You are aware just as many women play NBL1 as the men, so both NBL and WNBL need to be considered
They will probably delay the start of NBL1 to May and run it right off the back of NBL as that will have a shortened season

NBL1 South 2021 - 17 game season commencing in May. Likely to overlap with NBL but not WNBL.

Seems NSW for 2021 aren't keen to move into the NBL1 branding as they revamped to Waratah 1 League with live streaming of the games.

Any news on other states and merging into the NBL1 bracket

It's NSW why does anyone really care? The Waratah is a weak competition and why would they want to come back after leaving the SEABL all those years ago?

Because the NBL are paying them too

Only in the men's .... may give some of the bench players a chance so it’s possibly a good thing

Though if NBL is running after the Australian Open and Morrison gets his wish to not have people quarantined when they arrive from ovetseas , the European winter will be rife with this dam virus , NBL will be lucky to get a few weeks in before we all get locked down the way this thing is going

seems there must be something going on, soon NBL1 EAST announcement

https://northsidewizards.com/nbl-1-announcement/

https://sgba.com.au/wp-content/uploads/Basketball-NSW-Senior-League-By-Laws.pdf

Seems to be accidentally leaked guidelines also

Seems to be that some teams might enter NBL1 and others may choose to stay in Waratah 1 in similarity to how Vic and QLD handled it

What teams do we expect to be in the NBL1 EAST

I heard 10 teams like central.

Hopefully they add state U20s spp to the teams for every conference. Young kids won't get much time for there clubs otherwise.

North's possibly as they have coin, not certain who else could afford it, perhaps Hills.

East will be like Central. To play the regular season will cost you next to nothing because there is no flying. Make the National Tournament and you may have to fork out some dollars.

Maitland Mustangs are the first team to advertise their trials as NBL1.

Does anyone know when NSW will make the announcement of the change to NBL1 or should we expect it to be similar to how QLD and SA was done couple months before season start

It might be nbl1 but it's just the dressed up Waratah league. How are they going to compete money wise for players, even earning 10k in nbl south is better than nothing in nbl east.
