NBL1 Central 2021 Coaches

Will wee see many changes after the 2020 season?

Things I've heard:

- Michael Rogers to Mavs
- Hawkes to return to North Adelaide
- Whitmore on thin ice at Woodville
- Norwood to be looking for a new coach after the American hasn't worked out.

Rest of the mens side seems pretty set & won't change much from Summer you wouldn't think.

What about women's? I don't follow it enough to hear any rumours.

Rojo to Mavs has already been confirmed on their social media.

I've heard the opposite about Norwood, but that was been they started losing/turfing players.

So basically Mavs still do not have a men's coach for next season

Will the Webbers be calling the shots at Eastern now too?

Say what you want about Rojo but anything is an improvement on Warhurst.

Yeah Rogers at Mavs will be interesting to see what happens. Mavs squad has virtually disappeared in recent years. The young players he should have been nurturing were killed off with poor coaching and poor decision making. Will be interesting to see if a culture change develops where firstly the coach doesn't stand and scream like a fool at his players all game and decides to teach instead. If he was a genuine coach he would have a competitive young group by now that would start winning more consistently, but Warhurst blew it.
Cant believe players can walk into the program cause immense problems leave and return? Doesn't say much for respect for the club does it?

So its back to the old, let anyone show up and give them a singlet.

Interesting take on McLean. He did ok taking over from Al but not sure he had Creek for more than a year and not sure how it ended with those guys you mention.

Sounds like he has had some trouble retaining talent at West now? Possibly lost the ear of the group?

Tactically he might be the best coach in the comp.

If Hawkes has the job then why advertise ?

Id suggest it is the end of his contract and it is probably club policy to advertise and not just rollover

Mavericks have been in "free fall" for years so rojo will find it a shambles upon arrival. They don't have the budget of his former club, nor the framework in place to be successful.Juniors have either left for other clubs or quit the sport altogether due to the clubs terrible culture and non promotion of juniors. Every dead end player in the state makes a play for Mavs and the previous coach accepted all of them regardless of attitude or talent.
Mavs last ABC game had only one player that played any form of juniors for the club, worst in the comp by a mile!
Massive job for the new coach unless he is given some time to create a culture and not just recruit or accept bad attitude, bad talent burn outs.

If Hawkes was contracted, why wasn't he coaching?

Rojo and challenge shouldn't be in the one sentence. Least of all creating a culture. Unless that culture is whinging
