Under 20s next season.

Apparently bsa are bringing back the under 20s next season, is this a response to Covid to give second year 18s another shot in juniors. Apparently youth league will continue. Just wonder what night they plan to have it.

Round number most likely and more players to include. So 1st year 23s this season can play.

What an absolute waste of time.
YL is already a second rate comp, this just makes it even worse.

There's already U21s. Why bother.

Its 23s, not 21s.
I can see how it could help lesser developed players remain in district. Skinny underdeveloped 17 year old players going up against 22 year old men may discourage some. So instead of shoving them into a div 4 league, why not keep them in similar age group. Better ones will be on the radar of premier league, if not div 1 youth league. So 20s with have a huge drop off unless clubs make them play.
From memory one of the reasons they went to 23s was because of the huge drop off in female U20s, was hard to even get 5 teams.

I believe it is something the Premier League clubs really wanted and BSA is accommodating them.
Given that some clubs have very low numbers of players over 18 and there are examples of clubs playing a full team of U18's in Div1 Youth League and many Youth League players in the ABC competition it will be interesting to see how the clubs manage teams in U18, U20, YL, Seniors & NBL1 (especially in womens)
