Interesting article re Hawks and Lamelo Ball in 2 season

ABC has an interesting article on the entire Lamelo Ball/Hawks experience in last year's NBL season. Goes over the original signing/recruitment process, how things transpired while Ball was in Australia, how he developed as a player, and his sudden departure.

A long article but worth a read.

Very good read, Tory Lavelle has walked away from the Illawarra hawks now to concentrate on his race horses, leaving a massive whole in the budget down there and the real local fans have followed him. He didn't want to have Illawarra removed from the name and wasn’t happy about playing home games elsewhere. I’m still not certain why him and Ball were not given the keys to the franchise, Lavelle is a very smart business man and Ball would’ve brought in sponsors $$$$$$.

Lavelle has tried to have his fingers in to many pies he also tried for a A league team in the gong and failed.

Just because a few fans and some sponsors have walked away doesn't mean everyone has.

Some of the so called fans showed little interest when they actually had winning seasons.

Ball trying to buy the franchsise was a joke and i am glad they actually went the way they did.

The Wolves have been a big success down here & there's no reason why the Illawarra Hawks wouldn't have been with Lavalle running the show.

Best of luck to the new group, hopefully they can get some more corporates on board. Peoplecare is back now! That's 1.

Remember when IMB were the major sponsor for what seemed like an eternity? Those were the days.

Wolves play in a State League. They get about 800 people to a game.
