NBL deregisters Bullets training player Najeal Young

The National Basketball League has deregistered Brisbane Bullets training player Najeal Young, effective immediately.

Young travelled to Adelaide with the Bullets squad for last weekend's preseason games against the 36ers. On his return to Brisbane earlier this week he failed to undertake a COVID test and self-isolate as requested by the Queensland Government and the management of the Brisbane Bullets.

All Bullets players and staff except Young have complied with the Government request to undergo testing and self-isolate for a period of 14 days. As a consequence of his action, Young, who is not a rostered Brisbane player, will be unable to take part in any NBL related activities including training.

The matter has also been referred to the Basketball Australia Integrity Unit for investigation.

"As a club we take the directions of the Government and Chief Health Officer very seriously and Najeal's failure to do so was unacceptable and we fully support the NBL's action," Brisbane CEO Peter McLennan said.

He was a scrub from the state league filling a spot because they only had 3 contracted players. If you are going to abuse someone at least have a clue.

250,000 dead in the United States.
Likely 400,000 dead by the time a vaccine is ready.

They just don't care whether it be home, here or abroad.

Same thing has happpened multiple times with USA players overseas.

Strange that no one has posted about this kids ability to play at this level previously. Yet again the experts come out to pull the kid down. Went to a "kids coaching clinic instead of into isolation." At whose direction? I certainly hope it was the Bullets and the shit storm turns on them and all the other idiots posting about the guy.

Bullets have already publicly stated he didn't follow their direction nor the direction of the Queensland government. It's not to difficult to read.

My first reaction is if he isnt a rostered player and hence won't be playing this season, what would the Players association's responsibility and attitude towards players like him ?

Would a Jacob Holmes even bother to call him?

Like a lot of people bleating about our current lockdown he didnt consider it a priority. With no income probably outside of basketball he took a gamble and decided to get some cash from this clinic. Hopefully the team didn't call past the Woodville pizza Bar on way back to hotel.

Generally directions for the Government and the state health department are priorities.

Surely one of the organisers would have thought, hang on a sec, he's not supposed to be here. If it was non bullets camp, maybe, but bullets should get a please explain for allowing him to do it. Surely they would have had a coaches list and known he wasn't allowed to take part.
