Much as l love AFL and think its great when clubs think outside the box, I wish they'd stop poaching BBallers.

Most of the newer basketball switches to Afl have been terrible.
They won't remain on lists for long.

How good WAS Petruccelle as a baller? Everything I read just says the same thing "blistering pace", and he's got that allright.
Watching him play AFL is like watching a Speedy Gonzales cartoon.
I the rest of him very catches up with his legs, he's going to be a superstar.
He was a PG for a good vic metro u18 team. Looked like Rankine did playing bball, just another level pace & athletic wise. Not super skilled for a PG but a dogged defender.
I suspect some will end up coming back. Some at nbl1 level, maybe 1-2 nbl.

I have to disagree. He is quick as hell but has no clue how to play footy. Can't read the play, can't kick, zero footy iq. Most damning of all he has incredible speed but can't stick a tackle.
Takes a lot talent to come back to basketball after playing football for 3-5 seasons.
Doubt he will. I think he just signed a new contract with the Eagles for a few more years. I don't know what someone gets paid in the AFL for being at the level where they are in & out of the team because they aren't good enough to hold down a spot but its probably still more than most NBL bench players.
Jacks new contract would be 250-350k you'd think.
He wouldn’t have played NBL, topped out as an NBL1 starter I would think.

The gap from junior basketball to senior basketball is so big. When you look at how many 'junior stars' quit early and make jump to footy, do we look at how well our system really develops our top talent or just glorifies their ego because coaches are scared to give kids the hard truth and lose a few Friday night games ?
