Still makes them a "maybe" for playoffs. They lost Newbill which will hurt them the most.

That's huge news for the Taipans and the league. They have to be back in the mix amongst the favourites even after losing DJ Newbill to the 2 import rule.

This is fantastic news. First time I can remember that the taipans are able to resign the imports, and a 2 year deal! Even better.

Machado and Oliver were absolutely great last season and was a real buzz around cairns.

Mike kelly has been great coach

Onwards and upwards Boys!

Let's go taipans let’s go!!

Nextseason will be better I think.21/22

Could get newbill back as 3rd import
add Stattman from college 1 year early or keep ngatai
add Baynes maybe, likely final year in nba.
King probably gone to nba
Potentially replace blagojevic or krslovic

Machado / Kenny
Newbill / djeric
Noi / Stattman or ngatai
Oliver / Deng
Baynes / Jawai

Well done Cairns, great for the league as well. Cairns now look finals material, Djeric had a fine finish to the season and Kelly had him playing good defence so loss of Newbill won't be that great. All other sides running only two imports as well.

Cairns will relish being underdogs.
Could finish anywhere from 3rd to maybe 7th.

Can you have the best impost combo in the league and still be considered underdogs?

That's incredible news both for Cairns and the league.
Amazing when you think that everyone is supposed to be paid less (although yes only a soft cap and new contracts can we written to account for the discount factor.)
And that Cairns s playing out of a hardware store.

Not sure why people are writing them off? Sure Newbill is a loss but every team has been hit some harder.

I disagree, some teams have gotten better on last year.

Nz, Melbourne, Illawara, Adelaide, sem have all improved on last year.

Sydney and brisbane about the same although waiting on import. Maybe slightly up or down, bit early.

Perth and cairns have dropped.
White for Martin, Mooney for plumlee, Blanchfield for white
Newbill loss.

Nice try Taipans fans... great to see you get him back but you've got butkus of a chance at winning.

Your bench is the worst in the league by a good mile. No Newbill is going to hurt bigtime.

Will struggle to make the playoffs.

Add Baynes??? Delusion is strong with Cairns fans. You are a small market team with thin cash - you couldn't afford to pull Tragardh out of retirement to play. Baynes is only gettable by big clubs such as Sydney, Melbourne who have the cash to make a decent offer.

Anonymous I think you may be the delusional one here , Baynes is signed for 2 years in Toronto so Cairns couldn't sign him anyways, besides no team in the league could afford the US$14.9 million contract he just signed champ. Machado and Oliver signed for 2 years each so pretty good for no coin

Baynes to cairns in 2 years, he won't give a toss about the money.

Not a Cairns fan but loved watching him play. Really glad Oliver and Machado are back. Mike Kelly did a great job with his group last season.
