Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is it going to be a full season going till mid year? Or is this year meant to be an accelerated, short season?

Surely at some point they will shorten the season to avoid running into a further breakout later?

With the vaccines rolling out from early March, hopefully breakouts will diminish by mid-year.

I'm not in a rush to write Perth off but they do look substantially weaker on paper than previous seasons.

Every year Perth won't make it bla bla they wait and see what they need and make changes. Will say every time a three peat is on they seem to go backwards even back in 92 and 2018 with cooke jnr

Perth have no hope with no post depth. they have 1 centre, 1 backup pf and 1 late local pf who looked crap. Jervis will help but he's not Kay or plumped.

Perth first two games at home and still complaining. I'm certainly not writing them off. Two seasons ago they won the premiership when with about five rounds left all and sundry said they would not make play offs. Perth favourites but love the underdog and cry me poor status.

Santamaria talks up his mates men, his love to some players is well over the top ie adnam, cadee. In saying that Travers looks a talent but should be left alone to develop. His love of Noi is also over the top.

Breakers (sold?) home game @ Perth Arena in Rd 2... Capacity at ~7,000, should get very good support with huge Kiwi population here and great history between the clubs.

Had since March to figure out an even schedule yet nba the A league have started and yet the NBL can't even start a competition? Understand it’s financial but all team’s playing at home should contribute to every team and ownership and sponsors to spread the amount evenly. It’s COVID and it’s what it is

All that happened was they rescheduled one game. It was originally going to start on the 15th anyway, until they added the Throwdown on the 10th, but it was the only game that weekend before the season kicked off for everyone else on the 15th. It's not exactly a massive change (and yes, they've shuffled a few teams around, but it's not like they've delayed the season by a month or anything).

Only complaint about Melb hub was the stupid tournament within a season, as attendance would be limited, what value does it really bring.

Unless a team gets a 3rd home game then it's impossible to say that anyone is getting an advantage with more games to be scheduled... the Breakers 'giving up' their home game to Perth could be rectified later in the season, nobody is to know.

Perth likely will start 0-2 but I'll be at the games trying to yell and scream and cheer my team on and as fans that is all we can do... and if Perth do start 0-2 then the games won't get any easier after that as there doesn't feel like any easybeats this season although Phoenix look wooden spoon favourites

Vaccinations will start in March probably but will be rolled out to most vulnerable and front line personell. I could be wrong but I believe the plan was to have everyone done by October. Not sure what place professional athletes are, but still can't see a full crowd being allowed this season. And don't want to be doom and gloom, but early days of the rollout, hopefully it's effective in large sample sizes.

Oh ffs

The "NBL Cup" is a stupid idea, playing regular games isn't.

Cramming the entire league into one great covid cesspool, is a stupid idea. Playing regular games in "safe" cities isn't.

Neutral games will attract minimal crowds and lose the teams money, it makes far more sense to play those games where they can draw a reasonable paying crowd.

The Breakers are screwed regardless. They are not going to get home games anytime in the foreseeable future. If that changes later, then the NBL can try to balance things up.

When we started this discussion months ago, WA had hard borders with all states, and at that time we accepted that the Wildcats would need to play only away games. That situation has now changed. Welcome to the real world.

This season is going to be a running hodge-podge of shifting fixtures, and games played when and where they can be.
If you can't tolerate that without whining and sooking, then I suggest you bail now, because it's only going to get worse

Yeah, Perth's round one game(s) postponed, as they had to go into quarantine, coming back from Brissy

I feel bad for the organisation, but I'm glad I went with the credit option. Just so much mucking about trying to get tickets fo games that are then cancelled.
Best of luck to those that can. Hopefully we get a full 7k to every game.
