Cairns v Sydney Jan 23

The festival of NBL continues and it feels like a festival as normally there would be about 3 games on a Saturday, but there's on one and one game per day for a while.

These teams opened the season with the Taipans striking first to get their season underway. Ware v Machado was a highlight with Ware maybe taking the chocolates that night. But Sydney haven't played a game since, Cairns has been beaten by the Invincibles and Adelaide has played 4.

Cairns have a fairly good outfit and won by a margin as skinny as a super model in game 1. Sydney won't want to be 0-2 and lose two games in a row. There's plenty of time at the end of the season for the Violent Crumbles to succumb to the pressure and collywobble their way out of major round action, disappointing their fans yet again.

I actually quite like Sydney's chances tonight, Cairns will not be easy, but if they have used their break constructively and bonded a bit then it's their turn to blow away Cairns.

Sydney by 1

I love cairns, but man they haven't looked very good to start the year, I think Sydney grab this game.

Any chance we can get someone different to Cam Luke and Bad Santa commentating this game? Pretty sick of those dudes already and we're not even done with Round 2.

Cam has only called two or three games so far and Liam is the best analyst the league has ever had....

Cairns miss Newbill's D big time. Noi one of the worst defenders in the league and Kelly needed to take him out because the Kings were taking him off the dribble easily.

Terrible luck for Glover after fighting back from 3 knee recos already.

Why do people constantly go on about home cooking

Horrible news for Glover and he looked better DJ, agree Noi is a woeful defender. He has to score 25 for you to be in front. Home cooking up there is woeful. Bruce and Moller do so much dirty work for kings. When one them isn't on the court kings in trouble.

DJ is as bad a defender as Noi, some of these players have never heard of a box out. Martin might score plenty but never passes it to players in better position, he has to many turn overs.

How many steps did Oliver take on his last dunk. 3 at least. Ref's asleep at the wheel.

Martin got learn to box out that vasilavic guy the same, to many put backs from no box out. Cairns got fix there D, there offence just rolls along nicely when there D is going. Have Cairns got a defensive 3 and D guy, move Noi to the bench. Kings injury struck and scraped out a good win, it was interesting seeing the ball in Mollers hands playing the point forward roll and quite useful. Ware played well and Newley still a beast. Bruce like Moller scraps for the team. Martin will be good but needs to look to pass it a bit more.

Why were Cairns $1.20 ish for top 4. Makes no sense, they lack depth. Oliver and Machado isn't enough. Newbies huge loss for a team who was mostly playing about 7 players

Oliver is nuts

360 attempt Haha. Between him and Djerics Hammer remisicint 3s but with even more mayonnaise in terms of the shooting action, Cairns is fun to watch

Neither, run with a dp, Hutchinson. Play Didi in the two, he's more suited there. Early days but I like what I’m seeing from Forde.

Enjoyable game. Agree that Cairns look a little shallow, but if King continues to improve and contribute it's not such a big deal. Kings on the other hand looking like they're about to be running a 7 man rotation with all the injuries....

Fuck Oliver is a beast , that dunk is what will bring the fans back, he was a monster last night, just had no help.

Cairns are in all sorts to be honest, over teams have improved cairns haven't.

Martin looks unreal too.

Really thought that Gaze and Hooley worked well together, Russel with these two was also very acceptable.
