Yudai Baba highlights videos

Melbourne United's Japanese player is getting 50K + views for his NBL highlights for each game. That's seriously good numbers considering the NBL produced videos on YouTube are lucky to get 1000 views.

It'd be great if every team ended up recruiting an Asian player going forward.

I said 1 Asian player should be mandatory 3 years ago.

Get a Phillipino and watch go to 500k. Sotto as a dp or edu out of college or remy martin.
Ra from Korea. Lots of players around that are better than some backups here,

Ra would be an MVP candidate in the NBL make no mistake about it.

Ra will not leave the South Korea.

So sign them to get clicks and be a gimmick?

Thought we are running a basketball league not a Snapchat channel

Baba has been a good contributor, he's not a gimmick.

Japan has 5-6x the population of Australia so why not tap into that

That's what sports around the world, social media runs the sports networks. That’s one reason why Randle was signed back for the Sixers right before the season because his name brings tickets not saying he isn’t a good player. The league hyping Giddey up more than Mojave King (Not saying King is better). Ticket sales & views that’s usually the first option talent is 2nd

Media members usually has been input on who teams should bring in, 70% of the time they say a team should go after a certain player the teams sees the clicks about it and go after him .. So teams getting players for views isn't outrageous

If they Are good enough and cheap enough a team would sign them. Problem is they are either cheap and not nbl standard, or get paid way more to play in their domestic leagues. Fake news.

Baba has been a great option off the bench for United. But a few YouTube views doesn't suddenly mean it's viable to get all the best Asian players playing in Australia. They're playing in Asia for a reason, and that reason is that they can make plenty of money doing that. The NBL has a ways to go financially before it becomes the NBA of Asia.

It's about making smart choices For the nbl.
Baba took a cut in pay, the b league is great but doesn’t compare in length, size n athleticism.
He’s best shot of getting to the nba is playing here or Europe.
The same apluys to other Asian players. The nbl is best stepping stone to nba from Asia.

Ra is like 32, his chances of nba aren't realistic at 6’6. He’s happy earning 500k + in Korea.
No benefit for him to come here.

We should see a few Japanese, Koreans and some middle eastern guys get a shot here.
A remy martin from phillipines would be good next season.
