Not sure what you mean by rigged. If you mean it's clearly designed to give advantage to Melbourne teams, then yes.

It's not designed to give Melbourne an advantage but the circumstances mean they do get a massive advantage regardless.

No I don't think it is rigged.

Given the circumstances a bubble was always an attractive option, wherever you go, its going to advantage someone.

As lamentable as it is being in Victoria, the benefits were :
- State gov is stumping up some money.
- State was relatively safe.
- They are more likely to get crowds for 2 home teams that other states with one home team.

Its a pre season comp lumped into a season giving vic teams an advantage.

Expecting teams to lose 4 home games from the home and away schedule and expecting out of state fans to travel with everything thats happened very foolish.

Is the NBL cup a one off, or is this going to be a regular thing?

No home games have been lost as these are extra games.

Players should not have been forced to play extra games whilst taking pay cuts.

Players should be able to share the spoils if your team does well. They are all taking pay cuts, playing extra games but they can't share any money won as it goes towards the clubs salary caps.

^that just seems like way for the rich clubs (United) to get even richer.

Stupid thread.

Not rigged.

Any Hub Will advantage home town - obvious that Victoria was the best option with state gov assistance, borders not closing and most likely to get decent crowds and two home teams opposed to one.

Don't like the Victorian teams, but even then the logistical factors make it clear why Vic was a good choice.

What chemical substance means people so stupid.. if in a hub situation always going to favourite homie teams or teams.. looking at table 6 or 7 teams on 6 or 7 wins .... great comp .. all very competitive ... race for finals spot looking like amazing race ...
Clearly teams coming in last no shot ... it's alive and well .. brilliant format....

NBL cup should be held in NZ next year after the shit the Breakers have had to deal with this season. The NBL would never though.

Yes, because it's definitely that and not the hundreds of thousands of dollars of sponsorship money both the NBL and Victorian government are publicly admitting to.

You sure about that? I know for a fact some players are not happy having to play extra games, in a very tight schedule, for significantly less money.

I like the concept as we came into it thinking that Illawarra and maybe even Adelaide due to favourable home schedule were pretty good and we are coming out of it singing the praises of Brisbane, Perth, Sydney (partly due to injuries) and SEM.

Its Probably fast tracked a better brand of basketball as the rust was evident when season started but so many games so quickly and it's been fun as a spectator.

I like how we play the last fixture of the cup so will know all the permutations to collect the top cash prize. It's surprising that United didn't get this benefit. Thanks LK.
