Who was invited to Classics?

Have the invitations to the June Classics tournament gone out as yet? Any insight to who got an invite and who the teams are to watch?

no january tournaments this year will keep us guessing - some hints from Norwood Easter tourney as to where those teams were at - but generally probably not a lot of scouting - so will be interesting.

Will anyone be surprised if BSA push for Sturt to make the 'invite' list for the U18 boys?
Or for North to get an invite despite finishing last in their pool?

Would you go to Melb given risk of being caught up in COVID and having to isolate? Big call for clubs and families.

SA closing borders to Melb. Would be risky to head over there anytime during winter, unless you are ok being isolated.

No chance this goes ahead now. Melbourne will be in a 7 day lockdown shortly, followed by restrictions that will slowly ease.
Real shame for all the athletes who worked hard to qualify.

Thanks to SA quarantine !

Expect it will become a Vic tournament only.

It will be cancelled. They have no choice. Failure of the Feds to do their job once again.

Reckon they should just have a tourny between the top Melb teams. Not a national tournament but give the kids a good work out after a bad few weeks of no action.

National Junior Classic has been officially postponed by BV:

"Basketball Victoria has made the decision to postpone the National Junior Classic, originally scheduled to be held from 12-14 June 2021. We are looking at alternative dates during the September school holidays, and will have further updates regarding a re-scheduled event in the upcoming weeks."

I'm not convinced running this event at a later date actually fits into the national basketball calendar of events....time will tell.

Hard to see the Classics going ahead if BA also postpone 16s for those same holidays, which seems increasingly likely if they want all states to attend. You would then have 16s in Perth and 14s at Casey in that same two week period. Absolutely no space for Classics then if that eventuates, especially given the talent that would be missing from multiple clubs on Nationals duties

16s in Perth. Classic limited to 12s and 14s in Casey. Simple
