NBL1-West MEN Round 6 Preview and Predictions

Friday
EAGLES v REDBACKS
This fixture is from a previously cancelled round. Gattorna, Timms and T.Jackson combining for 59 points and 26 boards. Eagles committing 23 turnovers against 14 for the Spiders. They will need to get this under control along with reducing the foul count with Redbacks shooting 18 more free throws.
Good to see Wagner registering 7 assists again.
Tipping an upset of sorts.....
Eagles by 8.

HAWKS v FLAMES
Hawks coming off a good win against the Tigers with every one scoring bar Cheir. The Hawks shot an impressive 45% FG, 35% 3PT while grabbing 13 more boards and dishing 7 more assists. What might be a concern for Coach Parsons is 16 turnovers to 10. Flames coming off a gut-retching loss (after the siren.....refs are human too.) in Gero. Hire's first game of the season scores a double double with 14 points and 12 boards. Godfrey, Durnin and Beard all contributing while the Flames grabbed 15 more boards inlcuding 11 MORE offensive. These teams have had great games in the past, however there has been quite a bit of turnover since thier pre-lim final from a few years ago.
Hawks by 15.

Saturday
BUCCS v LIGHTNING
Buccs coming off a win thanks to Wundenberg's full court heave against a much improved Flames. Muo played 40 minutes for 34 points. Lightning coming off a 69 point flogging of the Slammers with Shervill, Armour, Prue and Isenbarger scoring 75 points and grabbing 26 boards (17 to Prue). Almost half of the Lightnings score comes from 3 and the Buccs will need to run them off the line to maintain touch.
Lightning by 20.

SLAMMERS v EAGLES
Slammers coming off a BIG loss to the Lightning and Eagles coming off a loss to the Spiders and what should be close game the night before. Slammers need to improve their shooting % and look after the ball better. Im tipping another upset here....
Slammers by 4.

MAGIC v SENATORS
So close for the Magic but still a loss against the Wolves. The much improved Magic should push the undefeated Senators. King, Davis, Elliot and Ellis all contributing strongly and the match-up of Ellis v Smith, King v Williams and Wroe v Grace will be good to watch. The Magic would have gotten great self-belief and confidence from pushing the Wolves to far last week. Guess what....tipping another upset....
Magic by 8.

GIANTS v WOLVES
Giants coming off a win against the Eagles and a loss to the Cougars last week. Six players scoring double figures against the Eagles while only two of those same players scoring double figures against the Cougs. Giants form is a bit up and down with wins against rebuilding Buccs and Eagles and losses to Hawks and Cougs. Wins in Kalgoorlie dont come easy though. Wolves too deep and strong in the back court.
Wolves by 12.

COUGARS v TIGERS
Cougars coming off double wins against the Suns and Giants. Five players scoring double figures against the Suns while four players scored double figures against the Giants. It is so good to see Gavin Field not having to carry the scoring load of the Cougars with Poz, Hunt, Chan and Rogers all chipping in across the last two games. Tigers coming off a disappointing performance against the Hawks before a 26 point win against the Suns. Scott doing Scott things while Vigor and Clarke supporting him. This should be a great game.
Cougars by 8.

FLAMES v REDBACKS
Flames coming off a hard, last second loss to the Buccs while the Redbacks come off a win last week and a hard fought game last night. Hire to be the difference here.
Flames by 4.

SUNS v HAWKS
Suns coming off two losses at home for a combined total of 47 points. Suns leaving 27 points at the free throw line over the weekend and shot a poor 12% from 3 against the Cougs. Hawks coming off a good win at Tigerland with contributors across the board. This could get ugly with Ferguson, Thomas and Purser working well in the front court.
Hawks by 17.
