Junior tourneys affected by COVID

were the Classics in June cancelled totally for 2021 or deferred to later this year ?

And U16 Nationals are they the same cancelled or deferred ?

Hearing that NJC is tentatively rescheduled for the first weekend of the Victorian School holidays: 18-20 Sep.

Would it be possible that U16's may be relocated and played in the same week as U14 club champs?

Would the above possible changes mean that the NJC may only be for U12/16/18s in 2021 as it would be a big commitment from interstate teams to be in Melbourne for 2 weeks and play all the same teams?

U16 Nationals possibly first week of eastern state school holidays with U14 club Nationals to follow in week 2.

It would mean SA kids would miss last week of school term for U16 Nationals.

they deserve a medal - when you consider the amount of build up / momentum leading into a National tournament and have to re-do it all again.
Do you train through ? Do you stop, have a break and re-start later ? Or do you just have a skeleton schedule enough to keep orientated and then rebuild it back up ? Injured players may now be available ?

Could they fit the Classics in as well at some stage ?

Of course this all depends on what happens on the COVID front ?

NSW Premier has ensured their state will be locked out of travel for months.

Any news on all the junior tournaments set for September. AJC u16s, u14 clubs.

Hard to see NSW out of covid mess before September. Victoria could be 3 to 4 weeks at a minimum.

As much as I will be annoyed 14 Clubs will not happen again this year,, Not just getting the Covid under control but borders will not open freely as well. Very disappointing

NSW just announced their selected teams to go to 14 Nationals. Teams and players are fundraising, so sounds like the event is still going ahead. Are teams going to quarantine for 14 days on arrival in Melbourne?

Victoria itself now in lockdown. Basically the entire east coast at this point. One month to go...surely it's not going ahead?

Apparently the announcement on wheather it goes ahead or not is later this month. On the 28th I think.

Any Tourney will be without NSW. With BA's love for NSW it will be tough for them to go ahead without them.

cant see how Under 16s could be possible either. Are teams seriously considering quarantine for two weeks in Darwin beforehand?! Madness!

NSW lockdown will be clarified on the 28th. I'm sure they're waiting for that.

Why Darwin? How does that differ from Perth?

Border restrictions.

Previous backflip of exemption to Vic teams.

More likely to get teams into NT than WA.

Possible Government funding from NT as well.

With Melbourne extending its lockdown and with no end in sight for NSW, I cannot see any junior tournaments proceeding this September as planned.

BV have set August 15 as the date to make a decision on NJC.

U14 Club Nationals to be cancelled this week, announcement in the coming days :-(

U16 Nationals would be in major doubt with Darwin in lockdown.

BWA just pulled the pin on Southern Cross Challenge 2022

https://basketballwa.asn.au/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/SCC-Announcement-2022.pdf

Still running trials/selection and a program as they did Jan 2021 where the kids play WABL teams 1-2 years older.
