Yes! Good game, too!

Also Matildas beat New Zealand 2-1 on Wednesday night.

Softball: Lost 1st game to Japan, 8-1 (mercy rule) and won the 2nd game against Italy, 1-0.

In the football, I expected/hoped that the Matildas would have done more but a win is a win is a win! The Olyroos were stunning. And Egypt's draw v Spain is a great result for us too.

Predictable cue-ing of the Olyroos bandwagon by those who usually sneer at football

I guess they should win gold now right ?

Let's all take a passing interest in Aussie football wnow that they've had a win

Could any of you name one player in the team prior tolast night or seeing this morning's highlights on Sunrise

I thought this was a Hoops Forum ?

Don't have to be Nostradamus to predict that Nostraballmus must be fun at parties.

I don't tend to give even half a damn about 99% of the sports at the olympics, but having a team to cheer for makes it fun.

I was familiar with Daniel arzani because they made him out to be the next big thing at the last World cup

Riley McGree is another name most would be familiar with due to him kicking that scorpion kick goal a few years back which should have won goal of the year

Who cares if we know or dont know peoples names

How many people watch swimming or hockey or any other sports except for the Olympics?

Not many is my guess...

What a stupid post by Nostraballmus

Its the Australian way to jump on the bandwagon of any national team or individual doing well.

Love the Olympics

"Softball: Lost 1st game to Japan, 8-1 (mercy rule)"

There's a mercy rule? You always learn something new from the olympics!

Heard it on the stream that the game was won after the 5th "on the Mercy Rule".

Junior basketball, ok. Olympics competition, I don't think so!

crazy old man?

Swimming finals in morning sessions to tee up US time, annoying. Road race was absolute beauty today.

I think the mercy rule is in baseball/softball because games might go forever if a team can't get the other team out and they've got 3 games a day on the same ground.

Invoke the mercy rule on this thread

4 golds, Australia's best ever Olympic day.

9 swimming golds, Australia best ever swimming effort.

Emma McKeon, Australia’s best ever Olympian with 11 medals!

Australia’s swimming efforts in London 1 gold; 3 golds in Rio; 8 golds for all sports in both Olympics.

9 swimming this time; 14 and counting.

Fantastic!

We suck at athletics, we've got sailing, basketball, hockey and indoor cycling left.

Yeah - After swimming we can basically expect to not get any more golds unless we pull out something in track cycling (we have one possibility?), or sailing (just nailed one), or hockey

If we can pull 16 that'd be amazing - perfectly content with 14 though
