Interesting signing since United didn't go with an import center instead?

I was thinking they would of signed a starting Center like Shawn Long or a Ben Moore type of player.

I know my team has Mason, JLA who stepped up massively, but United’s bigs transition defence is what I was worried about. Even though we were top for most of the season we had some average games which we lost who were against Brisbane (Cup), Phoenix twice and don’t forget that awful game against Perth at our home.

I'm guessing United is bringing back Scotty Hopson?

Odd signing, must be expecting big things from the German kid.

Talk is Hopson is likely coming back.

Will only see spot minutes with Hukporti and JLA seeing bulk time.

Seems more like a budget signing to me.

Still can't get my head around why United haven’t signed any imports yet. The Next Star is nice, but is he a starter in the NBL yet? The kid is only 19.

A lot of questioned for United till the season starts.

I’ve been to every home game and JLA isn’t as strong to hold down the stronger center’s in the NBL. Mason has been fantastic but it’s only his second season. Jack White is definitely United’s starting forward. Then you would mix Mason and JLA around.

Hopefully he will get more time than in Brisbane. He would have been a good player for the JJ's

And Jack White will be out for most if not all of next season too.

JLA isn't starting material so they must be high on the German kid.

Be interesting to see what Calum can do. He definitely needed more opportunity. His dad played 400 NBL games and won a Championship with the Canberra Cannons. His Aunty played professionally too.

His uncle also won a championship with the Bearcats.

Vickerman must have a plan here. JLA was effective last season as an off the bench burst player, 20 minutes a game with the license to score and in many cases against the opponents secondary rotation / fatigued frontline due to Landale's court coverage. I just don’t see him being able to step up to a starter role but maybe that was the deal to get him to re-sign.

Is Hukporti ready to start? White once fit will change the dynamics but this team on paper looks very un-athletic and soft inside.

I'm pretty sure United with a NS can have a 12-man roster - so that would indicate they'll sign an import big? Seems like they'll look for a 4-5 type - none of Peatling, Barlow and Dalton should expect to receive regular rotation minutes (and could Barlow play the 3 these days?)

I suspect Dalton's a Dan Trist signing who ensures that they meet the 'bottom 5 salary threshold' requirement.

JLA / Hukporti / Dalton
Peatling / Import* / Barlow
Hopson* / Newley
Goulding / Prewster
Dellavedova / Ili

Vickerman is the worst import coach ever in the Nbl

I'd rather have him than Tohi Smith-Milner so good luck to Callum, certainly intrigued to see him get more opportunities than what was afforded to him in Brisbane.

I am not hearing anything more on Baba coming back and it's sounding less and less remote with Prewster signing.... I'm very intrigued by this United squad
