Spain v Slovenia

Threadworthy in it's own right obviously a result that impacts the Boomers.
Spain up 14 to 12.

Boomers scenarios:

Result of ESP-SLO / Possible AUS opponent

Slovenia win = Argentina 50%/Spain 50%
Spain win by more than 12 = Argentina 50%/Slovenia 50%
Spain win by less than 12 = Slovenia 100%

The last scenario is ridiculous but is due to FIBA's strange treatment of the #2 seed.

Spain win by exactly 12 = both ESP & AUS would have the same points differential so the tie-breaker is number of total points scored. Currently AUS 259; ESP 169. So we would want Spain to score over 90 in this unlikely scenario to avoid seed #2 and a shot at Argentina.

Definitely looks like Spain are getting away with a lot of dodgy plays, elbows on screens etc then Slovenia getting called for soft things.

Alright scratch that 12pt scenario rubbish it's basically this for the draw after the game:

Slovenia win = Argentina 50%/Spain 50%
Spain win = Argentina 50%/Slovenia 50%

Ok this is better.

Spain providing a pretty good blueprint for handling Luka, too. If everyone else beats you, fine, but don't let him do it. Deny him when you can, double him when he catches, send early help on drives. I would absolutely be starting Thybulle if we play Slovenia.

This new format with a draw for the quarters is partly due to Spain dropping a 2nd game on purpose in the group stage to avoid the US side of the draw (by finishing 3rd in their group instead of 2nd, after they dropped an early game), in the process playing and eliminating France in the quarters. It's not a good look for the sport to have teams dropping games on purpose, so they changed the format, although the number of games is probably also a factor.
It would be quite funny if there was a quarter between France and Spain!

Prediction of the "draw"

Australia vs Spain (weakest opponent for Spain)
USA vs Argentina (let USA TV ratings through to the semis, and only one North American team in the semis)
France vs Italy (guarantee two other Euros in the semis)
Slovenia vs Germany (ditto)

Why is everyone so scared of Spain? I know we've lost to them the last couple of times, but they have gone a bit backwards since then. Most of their best players are in decline.

They were lights out from 3pt range and still couldn't win tonight.

Because Spain are the absolute masters at playing Euro ball, out guys aren't. Spain have stood up and done it at the highest levels, we never have. Thirdly Spain always seem to get a nice ride from the refs in the big games, Aus being a bball minnow never does.

What I don't get is clearly it was in Spain's best interests to lose this game which they did despite Doncic having a quiet one yet all this BS about the new draw is seeing them manufacture the results like always?

Update on the Draw

Due to IOC restrictions, we will not be allowed to stream the Quarter-Finals draw on YouTube or any other streaming service. The draw will be made available for all accredited media members through the MyINFO+ service.

Yet this sentence is added below it:
Here's the broadcaster info for watching Olympic Basketball on television in your country.

Err okay, so does that include the draw? Awful, awful website.
