Boomers qualifiers in June/July in Australia - NBA players

"BOOMERS GAMES ON HOME SOIL

Basketball Australia is in the process of locking in Boomers World Cup qualifying games on home soil in June and July.

The matches will be played post the current NBA season, giving stars like Patty Mills, Joe Ingles and Matisse Thybulle a chance to return home to be part of planned celebrations to acknowledge the Boomers' historic bronze medal at this year’s Tokyo Olympics.

"It would be a great opportunity to celebrate the Boomers and give them that celebration they didn’t have due to Covid restrictions," Shriven said.

“We are in the process of trying to organise a Boomers World Cup qualifying window here against China and Japan.

“That will be around the June/July period, which would be amazing because it will be the NBA off-season, and almost a year on from the bronze medal.”"

Yeah Simmons really wont have an excuse to miss these qualifiers. I will miss them though. He will make something up and some portion of the basketball public will be silly enough to buy it.

I think a lot of our other NBA guys will probably put their hand up though.

Daniels wouldn't be drafted yet so he won’t make it.

Ben Simmons will not play for Australia. He will be too busy working on his jump shot and foul shooting.

Last time we had NBA off-season Qualifiers we got Thon Maker and Delly to play, although we played in Japan and Philippines though. The Philippines game ended in the bench clearing brawl, so wonder how many would be interested.

To be fair, I don't think most of our NBA players will be playing. They'll most likely want to have a break after playing through their 'break' last season, and then have this NBA season to start much sooner than previously. NBA Season - Olympics - NBA Season. And some of those boys had, and will have deep playoff runs to take into account as well. As for NBA Rookies Landale & Giddey, I really hope we get to see them play.

Happy to see Boomers back on home soil, hope we put up a very good squad for those matches.

I like how the press release said that games on Aussie soil would give a chance for Thybulle to come home :)

Would be no interest if we faced Taipei.

Japan and China at full strength before asia cup should be good.

Really interested to see what horvasee can do after a couple of years with the mens n.t

Simmons won't play.

Baynes? Is he even out if hospital yet? Out of a neck brace?

Giddey should, his season will finish in May. Landale might have an early finish too.

Green might leapfrog Goulding in pecking order by the end of the season.

Thon Maker could push his way in if he comes back and has a good NBL season.

Might see Creek push his way back in too

Yeah.

With Baynes status unknown, a big will be needed from somewhere.

Maker has been part of the system before so he can be fast tracked.

He just needs to earn it, which he can from the NBL.

Prior to be being injured, Baynes was cut from the Raptors....Teh Ratporzz!#!

It has a lot to do with systems

Simmons playing? HAHAHAHA!

He'll be suffering mental anguish after what he’s been put through this season and all the underserved criticisms people said. Will he even remember how to play? Lucking for him he probably wouldn’t have forgotten how to shoot though.
