Taipans postpone Jan 15 game against United

The CQUniversity Cairns Taipans announce that Saturday's game against Melbourne United will be rescheduled, due to league health and safety protocols.

The Taipans have received further positive test results from the team and in addition to state government requirements regarding close contacts, they do not satisfy the minimum number of players required to suit up.

The decision was made this afternoon and follows two home games being postponed (January 8 and 11) last week. While there will be other games in the league progressing ahead, the Round 7 NBL schedule has also changed in response to the advice of governments and health authorities.

Plus this

The Adelaide 36ers Sunday game against the Tasmania JackJumpers has been postponed after a number of the JackJumpers were ruled out due to COVID protocols.

The Sixers will play their next game against the Perth Wildcats at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Tuesday, January 18 at 7pm which is now the rescheduled December 28th clash.

The Wildcats now have a whopping 13 players positive.

Will they really recover and not infect others in so few days?

Or have they found 10 NBL1 DPs to take over?

Jack Jumpers should have got their protocols right from the outset. Perth no excuses.

So that'll be a full month between games for the 36ers, if it goes ahead. This season is shaping up to be a more challenging slog than last for the NBL, teams and players. Not much fun for the fans so far, too.

One would assume this game is going ahead given how close todays date is to the new date given. If there was a chance that it does not go ahead you think they would be more cautious in declaring when the games starts, cry wolf theory.

Another tough season, at least the players haven't been asked to take pay cuts like last season. Let’s just hope the numbers start dropping, other than WA, Australia is one of the worst performing countries against the omnicron strain, let it rip hasn’t worked well at all.

It looks like the Breakers have been scheduled for 3 in 5 days. It will be a really interesting season if everyone loses momentum and the Breakers reverse their record, Perth fall out of the top 4, and the 36ers make the playoffs with MVP chants for Sotto.

" Or have they found 10 NBL1 DPs to take over?"

They'd still beat Adelaide

Not bad for Cairns, more time for their two key imports to regain full health.

I love how people think you can avoid a highly-infectious airborne virus. It's luck more than anything.

Wildcats could have easily avoided it

(by staying in Perth)
