NBL1 Central’s Men Power Rankings

Power rankings and thoughts on this upcoming season, with the information that's public with rumoured signings re. Player signings/imports

Bottom feeders:

10: Central’s. while the BJ - Tobias & Demetrius looks good on paper, they are incredibly up and down and will have to work with a whole new roster. Humphries and Lual is a massive hole to fill. The league competitiveness has sky rocketed and central’s sadly haven’t gotten any better. Can Tracy York develop some young talent to keep them competitive?

9: Southern. Incoming & improving with Ricardo Martin, Olbrich, looking at an import guard isn’t going to cover the losses of Koop, Nick Wurm and DPOY Coleman. Will Olbrich live up to the hype?

8: North Adelaide. The mighty Rockets have seemingly cleaned house. From having a star studded team last year there’s no rumours of any big signings and many players have been given the flick. You can never count out Dean to open up the check book & sign some major players. Which high profile NBL player will Dean manage to convince join the rockets?

7: Eastern: After a winless season the Mav’s have some positive early signs. The signings of Wallacott Medalist Kirksey, Koop Maccalopp & rumours of a James Legan return makes them deeper and gives them the ability to score which they haven’t had in recent times. Still there Australian talent is underwhelming. Which local could step up to fill the void?

6: South Adelaide: lost Mudronja & Hulland, their core remains the same built around Starling. An import guard next to John’s to run the show should be a decent backcourt. New coaching staff which should be an instant improvement over the disastrous Jamie Petty. South had a turbulent season last year and vastly underachieved. Should be around the mark. Is Hoppo a 6 man of the year candidate?

5: West: Signing of Nate Shepard and the pending signing of Nik Desantis will boost their roster tremendously. Would be looking at an import big, could be better then previous years since their back to back top 2 finishes. Will Maclean be able to last the year without an implosion?

4: Woodville: resigned Joe Jackson & keeping the core the same, will be looking to add another guard import like Julian Jacobs. Signing of Humphries & Wurm will be great additions to the squad. Whitmore back at the helm of the Holy Warriors, he’ll be looking for a greater year than previous years. Is it possible to fill Julian Jacobs shoes?

3: Norwood: Andrew Webber coming back from his Knee gives them shooting & leadership. Resigning Lycett, Green, Harding keeps their core solid. Losing dual Wallacott medallist CJ Turnage is a spot they’ll need to replace. How will Harding go coming off the bench?

2: Sturt: Joel Spear and the core come back. Sam Daly’s future still up in the air. An import big to come in and fill the hole that’s needed. No rim protection has hurt them the past couple years. Reigning COY Rigoni back to lead the troops, will Jacob Rigoni be the biggest impact player of the year?

1: Forestville: Andy 'Checkbook’ Simons has reportedly refinanced his Porsche to acquire the signings of Daniel Johnson and Jack Purchase. Pair them with Adam Doyle, Machar, Mays and Brine and you’re looking at a dominant, versatile lineup. Will Simmo rock the infamous denim shorts round one?

I can't see west being a finals teams unless both imports are incredibly impressive

Aussies can still be restricted. BSA wouldn't stop them running 10 restricted players lets be honest.

Would drop Norwood significantly with Turnage going, unless they have a stud replacement. And Webber's return isn't a major positive.
Will Scotty finally be able to lift warriors from cellar dwellers. Humphries a huge in, but injury prone.
Huge talent injection at eastern but can Rojo control himself being on final warning with his antics.
Forestville as usual buying a title. Is Simon's the most overrated coach in league.
North have the cash, can they get a player or 2? Same with South.
West showed no passion last year, will need decent imports to carry them.

Norwood and West in the top 5 is rediculous, as is North at 8.
Dean would have the North roster sorted behind the scenes, he's the master of finding who he needs to be competative.
Surprised Johnson is at Forestville, I understood CJ had told all the 6ers they had to play interstate as Central wasn't strong enough. Purchase doesn't surprise me because he's dating Andy's daughter.
The Greek fella at Eastern didn't play in a high enough competition to be deemed a restricted player so plays as a local.

I reckon most coaches could win more than lose if buy players like Eagles do.. nothing to do with coach if cheque book is big...West and norwood especially have always done it with talent and heart not coin or whatever.. another coach operates a similiar cheque book play book...

"norwood especially have always done it with talent and heart not coin"

You just lost all credibility. Norwood literally spent more on CJ alone last season than a few club's entire NBL1 budget.

You've all lost credibility by taking the time out of your day to discuss the league at all...find something meaningful to fill your life with rock dwellers.

Norwood will be good again. They do have heart and talent. West cut their core a couple years ago and have struggled since. Some players need to move on, some need chances.

These power rankings are way too early, north won't be that low but from the information at large it seems accurate !

How can it be accurate if Norwood is ranked so high despite losing the best player in league. Unless The Family wrote it based on an already slow Pg coming back from a major injury is somehow going to replace CJ's production. It's amazing how good players go there but leave after one season.
And Milat was nuts, but what was the official word for his sacking?

Noticed that Yaak and Fiston have transferred from North to Forestville as well.

Just saw Eastern beat North. I think North belong even lower on these rankings and Mavs will be top 5. Rojo will finally get the COTY he deserves.

^easy tiger, won by a point and wasn't exactly a who's who playing, more like who. Looks like hardly anyone of note played this round.

North had starters playing as did Eastern but I'm sure Mavs still have quite a bit to come in.

So who were the starters. Staude only one from last season and my Nanna could have started for eastern last year.
If you think that's North's final team then you're dreaming.

When the fat lady sings as they say it's all.over....how come it's possible to lock in Mavs as title fans when season yet to commence... feel that Norwood and Rojo are the whipping cream boys here.. way out west is best and quiet...beware the sleeping bearcat ....

According to cheatgles they are a frugal team, poor guys even had to say Rios was going to play extremely limited minutes.
Doyle is the big in, would probably be best, if not in the top couple, pg in league. DJ and Purchase will make their frontline huge.
Andy is pretty overrated always having to resort to chequebook. Will be interesting what Deanos response will be.

Maybe handy Andy just smarter than the rest..to be the best.. but it's the long term legacy the proud bearcats provoke.. only others aspire to.. days a gallantry long gone sadly when the carrot or cherry was to wear the uniform...when olden golden Holden was the beast in bowden carpark and flairs and wide ties were recipe for big night out ...kapok days of Hermann leading the fan band

North will have the biggest turnover of players. Going to be tough for them to remain competitive.

Not sure about Rathjen doubt he would play in this league again.

See they have resigned Jimma Dau though, thought he did well in their run to the title last year.

West Adelaide signed a 7'1 centre. lets see how he goes. I'm not convinced after the failed earnest ross experiment last year.

Why is anyone any good playing in this league if he is 7'1"
