Baynes: The mysterious fall and harrowing story of an NBA center

Article link:

Some very intense stuff. Respect to Baynes for opening up, and talking about something so sensitive.

Somewhat confronting to read, given the details but very happy to see him where he is, from where he was, as described in the article. A very valuable member of the Boomers. Hoping he fully recovers and gets to go out on his own terms.

Best of luck Aron!

Hope Baynes can make it back to the league. Seems like such a genuinely good guy.

Seriously hope he can get back to the league but odds are against him. Fingers crossed. Might be to our benefit and he ends up with a couple of years in the NBL.

Interesting he was allowed to play after the first concussion 3 days earlier.

Contract ends this season, what team would want him as a fa after what he's gone through.

"The hospital allowed him to see the team doctor and the athletic trainer for 15 minutes a day. Dellavedova and Sobey had posed as doctors to get past security."

Absolute folklore stuff. Love it.

Delly and Sobey are the most normal looking members of the team (along with CG and Patty being the only others not freakishly tall), the others would've raised more eyebrows. MVP performance by Delly and Sobey

Wow! Poor bugger!

I hope his recovery goes well enough to see him on ANY court.

Dr Delly!

Good luck to Baynes. Was devastating that he couldn't be a part of the team on the day winning the rose gold, but the description of his injuries is just beyond scary. Especially in a foreign country and during covid and being alone. Really had a rough go of it.

Whether he gets back to the NBA or not, hopefully he gets back to 100% health and can at least have a good and also enjoy the time with his family.

Baynesy is a Boomers legend and it would be awesome if him and Ingles could join Delly in the NBL one day.

That was a horrible read but glad to hear things are getting much better for him now.

Does anyone seriously think Sobey could pass for a doctor?

Sobey's grandfather was a a very good doctor,so runs in the family,

I'm guessing Delly was the team doctor and Sobey was the athletic trainer (cause no one is mistaking Delly as an athletic trainer).

Excellent article. Shit circumstances for Aron, I understand why we haven't heard jack of anything until now.

Interesting that the piece was authored by Windhorst of all people. A strategic move by Moldovan no doubt to get eyeballs on the article and his client's name being talked about again in the greater environment.

Missed this earlier

Good to hear he's doing ok. Although possibly talked it up a bit for the NA audience, at least he's up and around.

My brother became a Quad in his early thirties, pretty much life defining, so great to hear Baynes escaped that.

And if he can get back into playing shape, why wouldn't an NBA want him? Have another read above just how physically fucked up Bogut was at the end of his career.
Best of Luck to him and his family.
