Looks like the stitch up that the Boomers get most tournaments - most of the best teams on our side of the split, with the USA bogey prize looming in the crossover. But are the Opals even any good anymore?

I don't see how that outcome is a stitch up

I think there are so many good teams now that we will struggle no matter which pool we get.

Exactly. There's nothing especially scary about that group when compared to the other one, it's just that we have spent the last decade sliding back into the pack.

The draw this WC really sucks.

12 teams reduced from 16. Womens basketball has gotten better, not worse
Only 2 groups instead of 4(play matches across all regions)
The fact you can finish 4th in the group and still be rewarded by drawing anyone on the other side of the draw instead of the top team is ridiculous.

Eg should be
1a vs 4b
2a vs 3b
3a vs 2b
4a vs 1b

Not
1a vs anyone in b - imagine having 1a vs 1b in 1/4s
2a vs anyone in b
3a vs anyone in b
4a vs anyone in b

Surely that scenario is not possible though

Haven't heard 1 female complain about there only being 12 teams.

Must be happy with "some of the best" teams in the World coming to Sydney.
