We wanted you to be the first to know that NBL Next Star Ariel Hukporti will remain with the defending champions for the 2022-23 NBL Season!
Hukporti decided spending another season honing his craft with United would ultimately be best for his long-term career.
"Big A" has had a strong season, setting records and doing things never-before seen by a teenager coming into the NBL.
At the conclusion of the NBL22 Season, Ariel will return to Germany to see family, before coming back to Melbourne to get started with pre-season workouts.

Good on him smart decision he's been coming along nicely but not quite NBA Draft ready yet and if JLA leaves should have a bigger role next season too.

True, I've watched many games and Ariel will get better. He only needs to work on the small things.

If Ariel could work on getting less fouls then he could be one of the best centres in nbl23.

Easy going and really nice guy. Ariel is so funny in our after game club functions.

Great acquisition for Melbourne as well. He definitely helps bolster them inside and is improving steadily. Very mature move to hold off on the draft.

Very wise decision by this young Man He will benefit greatly from the coaching and being with United. Unlike some who are entering the draft with hype and will not get drafted this dude would have been drafted. He gets it his family gets and his team gets it. What a smart choice his stock will rise his talent is there and the Melb experience will prepare him for next years draft.

Hukporti fan, was hoping he'd return for another season. Can see him doing major damage with increased minutes.

Huge coup for United

If he had been drafted in 2022, maybe he would've ended up in the G League, and would prefer to develop in the NBL and aim for a higher draft selection in 2023

Only issue now is, how does United find minutes for him if they also manage to re-sign JLA?
