United Roster Build

The method behind their recent success is going to take a significant change with key big locals not returning next season.

They fell short because of lack of perimeter shooting in 22.

Now without spending on three QUALITY imports they simply aren't competitive in 23 and irrespective of who they get there will be imbalance positionally with number of locals they’ve already committed to particularly with Whites departure.

Okwera moves to fully contracted this season and is another wing and Barlow can’t save them this time with NBL1 form and numbers.

Delly | Ili
Goulding | ? | Triplett (DP)
Import | Newley | Maluach | Okwera
Import | Peatling
Import | Hukporti (NS)

In 2018 and 2019 United's success was largely built off imports- in the 2018 title Ware and Boone were their best 2 players

Delly, CG, Ili, Hukporti, Newley, Peatling is still a handy non-import group, especially if Hukporti takes a big step forward

Wouldn't be surprised if they sign a big name...

"In 2018 and 2019 United's success was largely built off imports"

Their success under Vickerman has always been built around defence and intensity. Then obviously Goulding has been the consistent piece, with others added around him.

Ware, Boone and Wesley were huge pieces in that title team, with Wesley's emergence possibly the x-factor that put them over the top, along with Prather's return for the playoffs.

I think MU will look more like this...

Delly | Ili | Duach (DP)
Import | Maluach | Triplett (DP)
Goulding | Newley | DP
Import | Peatling | Okwera
Hukporti (NS) | Local

[Their success under Vickerman has always been built around defence and intensity. ]

Of course but that's not mutually exclusive with imports being the key players. Ware and Boone were both great defenders, especially Ware

You need the balance though. Last season United had too many players whose strength was D, intensity, power and/or transition (Delly, Agada, Baba, White, Ili, Hukporti) but we lacked shooters and scorers. Which was why we got found out when CG was injured

Yep, they needed Agada to be a genuine scorer.
