NBL1 South Venues

With Melbourne Tigers playing on court 2 at MSSC have NBL1 dropped the 'minimum standard' for venues?

Game presentation is worse than YL2 at a random suburban club.

Wasn’t McKinnon knocked back based on their venue? (That is better than the domestic competition court at MSAC)

I had a look at their last game and it seems to be on court one? Looks fine?

There were other issues aside from the venue court for McKinnon not being elevated to NBL1.

Initial requirements for venues stated minimum seating capacity of 500.

Court 1 (or court 2) at MSAC are definitely not that.

Yeah only the show court at MSAC has that

They need to enforce/make their criteria a bit harder and start culling rather than adding more teams. 19 teams in South is a bit ridiculous really when there are only 8 teams in the league below. You play some teams twice but not all? odd! Surely there's someone at Basketball Victoria with half a brain that can see this is not really sustainable. I reckon there are a lot of NBL1 GM's who are too scared to drop down but who can't really afford to stay up. Relegate 4 teams this year, promote 1 going forward. Improve credibility, increase the talent. Every week someone goes down by 30+. Who's watching that rubbish? Take out the trash!

Where are you going to relegate the Tasmania teams too or Mt Gambier for that matter?

Tasmania and mt gambier could be given exemptions, in saying that these normally are in good shape to avoid relegation.
Nbl1 south isn't as strong as the old seabl competition was imo.

But 500 people would not come and watch these games! Minimum standard seems a little silly when you think about it. More people watching the pick-up games on the other MSAC courts.

19 teams too many, should be 10 at most and then have competition for promotion / relegation.

@sec - interested in why you think there were other reasons why McKinnon are not there.

Why would an NBL1 team want to drop down to State Champ given there is (apparently - according to everyone at Chelsea) no relegation!

Can you imagine going from playing the likes of Hobart and Mt Gambier in front of 500+ people to playing Chelsea SCM who's starting 5 would not even make the 12th spot on your roster? Plus cant even get a commentator for their live streamed games and have not had more than 15 spectators at some home games.

Laughable!
