Another Magnay injury
Magnay out 6-8 weeks with a fractured toe sustained in practice. Puts a serious clamp on JJs expectations I would say

I'm not ruling them out, it’s a loss but got lot games at home aand only need six games to qualify. They got depth.

Gak is their true second centre, Krslovic can play there. Deng or Hummer can go there in small ball situations, and there's always the 6'9 DP Woodhill

Be interesting if they get a replacement Centre Player ? Or they go with more mins with the players they have Gak ,Krslovic, Deng and hummer and use woodfall as well to play the 4/5 positions??

Yeah looks like they're done now. They can't come close to replacing what Magnay gives them with a local free agent and they don't have any import spots left. This win streak they're on too has come against teams with significant outs and some teams down the bottom of the ladder.
I'm sure now Roth and co. would probably just like to draw a line through this miserable season for them, anything that could go wrong for them practically did.
Sword was signed as third import when McVeigh was still there, then McVeigh got his NBA deal late in the off-season so had to settle with Te Rangi as his replacement. Macdonald got injured in pre-season screwing up their PG depth, Sword could only give them the third import production they intially signed him for, eventuallu cut him and signed Hummer an older undersized PF who struggled in Japan last season and now Magnay goes down likely for the rest of the regular season. Throw in the poor form from Doyle and Crawford too.

If Humming is as good defensively as he reckons he is then maybe he can cover somewhat on D. GG has been starting to show a little and Roth loves FAB who took them to a chip series in 2022 when Magnay was out injured. Very hard though to be enthused about their chances now unless they somehow get to the play offs and Magnay comes back in. The only other possible saviour to the season is McVeigh. Had a shocking shooting practice with the Rockets coaches the other day just when they were looking internally for a solution to their perimeter shooting woes. Has now been sent back to the G league. Does not make much sense having him as a 2 way if they have lost confidence in him and he is not there as a development player.

I think they will stick with what they got. To fair Magnay is a true five, half the clubs got fours in that spot. It's a spot that can be covered.

Agree Dunkman. They are deep at the 4/5 with now Hummer, Deng, Krislovic and GG (and young Archie as a DP). Will be a big cap space saving as well should they end up needing it. Will probably just reactivate Lachie Barker as another guard. Hummer is apparently explosively quick for his size. Fingers crossed there.

If they choose to sign a new IRP, Callum McRae is long overdue an NBL chance

Is Aaron baynes still in Australia ?? Could be a good short term option jack jumper's have the money

Would rather they keep the cash for free agency if that was the bat signal by Roth in the presser against the snakes.

Baynes is the exact opposite of Jackies culture, they'd be sinking themselves further by signing him as a replacement.

Only six weeks? Not bad, he'll be fresh for playoffs.

Angus Brandt would be a handy replacement here.

I think Hodgson retired a few years ago, after his brief stint in Taiwan after leaving Perth.

I doubt there is anyone out there that is better than who Roth already has and that he would actually have on the team and play. Maybe there is but very hard to think of anyone.

Playing with McVeigh at the Rio Grande Valley. Did ok today, 11 3 3 in 20mins. McVeigh had 11 5 2 in 25 mins.

Feel like they would have already got Thon as the McVeigh replacement if he was available, and they were interested.

Roth said at the Presser the other day that other deals they were looking at in the last 6 weeks fell through because they involved contract buy outs as well the players JJ's salary. That is why the Hummer contract worked because there was no buyout. When Roth brought in Terangi, Maker was on an exhibit 10 with Rockets I think and trying to get an NBA deal. We now know for sure (again from that Presser) that all this time the JJs have been hanging on to McVeigh’s money (and still are holding on to a fair chunk of it) in case he becomes available. That is why they did not go out and get a top end local at the time or do the Sword roster change for an import 4 back then. Has sort of compromised the roster this year but I am sure we can understand why the JJ’s are hell bent on bringing him back when his NBA time is finished.
