Taipans @ Bullets - Fri 20th Dec - 6:30pm AEDT

Another round of this heated 'local' rivalry. Yes a local rivalry as described by the NBL talking heads, despite the teams being 1,718 kms apart.

Brisbane sucks. And it's not often I have the opportunity to say this, but their opposition actually sucks more.

Would expect a Brisbane victory by 5 points, in front of a 1/3 capacity crowd again.

Once upon a time a defender had to stay on his feet, now you just collapse to the floor and get the call.

The return of the old Casey Prather might just be my highlight of the season. So fun to watch

Imo Prather better now than previously, his three point shot much better and after his euro years he's smarter.

Prather just misses an open lay up trying to dunk as soon as I gave him a rapp. Refs been horrible, let them play. Norton fouled out and bullets in foul trouble.

Ended up a good game, bullets earned it, look to have a few more injuries. Playing White ahead of Naar at games end was strange move, Naar been very good. Cairns are where they are as not lot dollars spent and some who are getting the money are not very good. In all that they do compete.

"look to have a few more injuries." The other side of playing too tight of a rotation, whether through choice or circumstances. The Bullets have been fairly hot of late and it's been on the back of the starters. Playing with a severely weakened bench (several of the back-ups) were injured, so the starters got no rest for so long now that they are very close to being buggered. Next step,...more injuries. Bateman's hammy(?) is huge and Prather's back, a worry, too.

Further consequence is that the Bullets face a few winnable games but no-one is an easy-beat, as we all know. Without the latest losses of Batemon with a "hammy" & Prather's back, Brisbane will have under-dog status from now till they rejoin a hopefully, healthy line-up to see out the season.

Bullets' next game is @ Adelaide and that's one that I thought we had a fair chance of winning. Next comes Illawarra and that's one that I thought we had a fair chance of losing, So from a possible 1 from 2 we look more like 1 from 2

On the up-side, Brisbane is really in a very good position considering all that above ramble. They have not been good "enough" to be higher on the ladder and have had to work hard to get to 5th spot (as of Fri nite). Hopefully, Prather returns real soon and no-one else falls over, please.

Welcome back Matt Johns. May be greater value now than yesterday with these 2 starters out. Should already know the players and the plays.

Batemon's loss is the real issue. Norton starts then what? Cooks is useless, here. He'll have his hands full with finding a 70 point game. Naar plays as Rocco does (both on and off the court together), Isaac is the only other guard with experience. Gonna be tough until we regain a "few" players, Batemon the main one.

Brisbane Bullets, you can win a couple of incredibly hard games and only have very hard ones left. You can still have a chance at the chip. MU, Perth, Tassie, Sydney, win and every one thinks fair enough. Dream high!

Yeah, I'm as biased as all hell. In a perfect world, that may all work out as above.

Well , Bullets, I'll be watching as usual but for Illawarra, you'll get the chance to see me.

nomination for worst time out of the year (perhaps the decade) - JS calling time out 4 mins into first quarter to challenge a foul on Harrison who steamrolled the defender. Brisbane lose the challenge, lost all momentum. Cairns goes on a 14 - 0 run and Brisbane forced to call a 2nd time out in the 1st quarter.

nomination for the worst Coach Tech foul - JS yelling at the refs for a double dribble on a I think Edwards. Reply shows there was no double dribble, he only dribbled once. Could have lost the game at the end due to boneheaded yelling at refs. Unconfirmed reports that JS saw a large number of drones all over Brisbane on his way back home.

nomination for best coach tech foul of the year - Adam Forde - gives the refs a bit of lip late in the first quarter to earn the T - that gets followed up by 4 soft foul calls on Brisbane in about 90 seconds. For the rest of the game, refs calls were all over the place.

Taran Armstrong should be called for lots of travels on take offs - two missed calls in the last 4 minutes. Vaughan Mayberry must be salivating in excitment at calling some future Taipans games.

Hooping, nice comments.

I've been complaining about the travels on take-off for a few seasons. It seems to be a rule which is conveniently ignored at all levels nowadays (or which I no longer understand, based on growing up before the gather step).
