JJs @ United Monday 7.30pm

All time head to head JJs 14 MU 7. JJs won 6 of their last 8 at John Cain Arena. Surely though with Lee and CG43 back and with Magnay out, MU can get it done and quieter the several thousand of the Ant Army that again will be in the house. First look at Hummer for the JJs.

Suspect without Magnay MU get it done by 6-10

Melbourne back to full strength, no Magnay for JJs certainly points towards the home teams advantage. Roth cunning though and had time to prepare and united are JJs bunnies of late. The round so far hasn't been great, hopefully we get a close one. United by three.

With Magnay, in need of a back-up all season, now goes down. Hummer comes in. Very good timing but JJ's need Gillespie more than they do a Hummer.

What if..
1. it was possible?
2. it was do-able?
3. it was desirable?
4. it was a ridiculous idea?

Gillespie is warming the bench at Milan, didn't even get on in the euro league last week in a loss. He’ll be getting a nice pay packet though. ::::))))))) no chance this season back to nbl.

Maybe a target for next year, then! And the JJ's will know re McVeigh's spot by then.

McVeigh sitting on the end of the Houston bench right now as they get torn apart by Toronto. He was with the Vipers for the G-League winter showcase and is now back on the Houston bench

Archie Woodhill has travelled to Melbourne with Tassie, expect him to potentially play rotation minutes for the first time this season

Huge fight back by Rockets to win. No minutes for number 58. Has been recalled to give bench depth with Tari Eason out with injury.

Really looking forward to sitting down and taking this one in at home. Open air United games always have a great buzz and it comes through on the telecast.

A bummer Magnay is out, preventing both teams showing up at full strength.

United by 8. Hoping Bubbles puts on a show, but I'd be just be happy watching a well fought close contest for the most part.

Game is sold out. Capacity about 10,300 with 7,692 in attendance for the last MU home game against the Hawks on a Friday night. Suspect the roof will be closed with forecast high winds.

Roof closed, Hummer doesn't look as tall as he was supposed to be.

Roth saying Hummer is a role player and not match fit. United D still average.

What is the penalty for Flynn Cameron getting under Steindl in his landing zone?

Reply #956059 | Report this post

Dunkman

No penalty if he's there before the shot, it looked correct decision. Both sides looking ok in patches and shit in others. Enjoyable game but not great quality at present, poor D and missed lay ups on both sides. Goulding back to Goulding quality very quickly.

Cameron moved under Steindl while he was in the air. You can call it either a low act or low IQ act. Whatever it is he needs to be penalised.

Not in my eyes, he was there first. Refs agreed with me. JJs three point shots are keeping them leading. Both sides not looking that fluent. Should be good finish, JJs in box seat.

Flop every day week by Drimic , I bet Sixers fans would have hoped that Loe got his just when he pulled down Harrell. JJs just knocking threes down like it's the size of the ocean.

@Dunkman Go back and look at the replay. Just because you, the refs and the commentators were oblivious to it doesn't mean it should to unpunished. You can see that Cameron comes in after Steindl has left the ground. There is no way a professional basketballer should be allowed to get away with it. Your eyes are obviously off kilter.

JJs certainly know how to win games ugly, I don't have any sympathy for United after the Sixers debacle but not certain the best team won that, though you have to make shots and united missed so many lay ups.

Dunkman you're not sure the best team won ? Jack jumpers have a 9-2 record against united in Melbourne Roth has clearly had vickerman number from the beginning the fact

I'm not disputing the facts about Roth over Vickerman, I’m just talking about yesterday’s game. United were a little unlucky imo, if JJs hadn’t shot the three ball so well it might have been a different result.

Regardless, that win may prove super important in terms of the end of regular season standings. With 9 wins currently and 7 homes games still to come plus at least 1 very winnable away game (and another v MU at JCA) JJs have given themselves the chance to figure very prominently in the final standings. It will be 6 weeks for Magnay's injury around January 30 so he could be back for the blockbuster home game against the Hawks on that date. But, one game at a time!

"not certain the best team won that, though you have to make shots and united missed so many lay ups"

Wow Dunkman for someone who posts a lot of good stuff sometimes you post some guff- this snapshot would have to take the prize for the most in depth nuanced analysis of a game so far this season (sarcasm)

Are you trying to say MU are more talented? No debate from me.

Are you trying to say due to their superior talent they should have won? Watching the game it was the JJs with their lack of comparable talent who lost the rebound count by 20 should not have been in the game but they played smart.

The Jackjumpers continue to get zilch recognition for the wins they get, why did MU miss so many lay ups? Did it have anything to do with the JJs D? P

As Crawford said after the game they are now the hunted and realise that, they may not have talent of Sydney, MU etc but they play hard and smart. Humble and hungry opposed to arrogant.

Still reckon United and the Hawks are the favourites for the chip but

Yep the JJs made their shots and MU didn't therefore they won......my attempt to keep up with nuanced posting!

It was just a gut feel watching it, just thought the ball bounce JJs way, or as I said a little lucky. I was glad to see the back of Loe on what was a very nice, can I say dive from Drimic. Loe should have gone in the Adelaide game.

Yep Dunkman no doubt some mayo from Drmic (been watching CG tape I reckon, and it has sunk in)....does not justify the action of Loe.

MU are too deep to not be contenders - they will be.

@NBLComms
The Game Review Panel has completed its assessment of the fourth quarter incident in last night's Melbourne v Tasmania game involving United player Rob Loe.

Loe has been charged with Unduly Rough Play against JackJumpers player Anthony Drmic.

The incident has been determined as intentional, low impact and high contact resulting in a one-game suspension or a $1550 fine with an early plea.

United can accept or appeal the decision.

JJs have it over United at JCA, like United have it over Perth in Perth

Just one of those things.

Hoping United don't run into JJs in the playoffs again!

Swinging elbow to the head of Drimic, I thought that should be a several game suspension based on previous opinions of some United fans.

Good to see Loe at least get a punishment and starting to be recognised for the dirty player he is.
