The NBL is aware of an incident involving Cairns Taipans player Jackson Makoi and has been advised he has been arrested. As this is now a matter for the NSW police and Basketball Australia's Integrity Unit, the League is unable to comment further at this stage.

He looked a great prospect when at kings, looked a great signing at Cairns but never got a lot of time. Be interesting to see what happens from here, certainly had talent.

Alleged incident following last week's win in NSW.

Given the rumors about the incident on the Gold Coast during NBL1 season the Taipans will be better off without him.

He was a DP with the Kings and I assumed something was amiss given they gave up on him and he then signed with Cairns, who themselves were only willing to give him a one year deal. Now a second arrest in less than a year and both in different cities to Cairns too which suggests serious problems. End of NBL career approaching quickly.

If the nature of the incident is what's been mentioned, it's not anything to do with Cairns, but I know what you mean. Just add it to the list this year unfortunately.

If it happened in 2023 he was under contract at the Sydney Kings at the time.

According to a 7 News report, the arrest is over an outstanding warrant from the 2023 incident, not a new incident.
