He was trying to train with Mackay last season I think with a plan on returning, suprised its Spartans but good on him. A 14 game season in NBL1 North is the ideal length of time and less back to backs required.

Great to see him back on court.

Former NBL player Harry Froling's remarkable recovery

Two years after being told he could die and he'd never play basketball again following a horrific one-punch attack, former NBL rookie of the year Harry Froling is officially making a remarkable comeback.

Code Sports can reveal Froling has signed with Brisbane-based NBL1 club the Southern Districts Spartans for the upcoming season starting in May.

The former Illawarra Hawks and Brisbane Bullets big man has been training for over a year after the scary incident on the streets of Wollongong in January, 2023.

Bleeding on the brain and a fractured skull meant Froling feared he wouldn’t return to basketball, but he has worked overtime to make it a reality.

The big man ballooned out to 158 kilos during his lowest point post brain surgery, but hours of toil has helped him drop back to 130 kilos.

Froling told Code Sports he can’t wait to get back on the court again as he looks to one day return to the NBL again.

"It has been a long two years, so I’m happy to finally get back on the court again," Froling said.
