Post reminded me of last year's men’s MVP, Roman Siulepa.
Has there been any further news on what he’s going to do in 2025?

Not sure I have ever heard so many Fbombs on the music during the breaks. Do they not even listen to what they are playing, very messy.

Will be interesting to see how teams go.

NSW Women only have 1 team playing whereas the boys have 2 teams.

Garlepp would not want 2.

They are currently playing QLD and lost by 7.

If you look at the States the Vics are still in general the strongest closely followed by QLD and SA are starting to get up there

NSW are slipping back in the pack in 16's,18's and 20's.They have only had success in the women because of Hall being in the team.

It's not his decision to make, but why wouldn't Garlepp want a second side? He's not coaching them and picks his team as a priority regardless.

I was told that states outside Victoria were denied entry of a second women's team. NSW were allowed a second men's team because the Global Academy made an odd-number and SA's hasn't been historically competitive.

In my opinion Queensland and NSW look stronger than Victoria and SA on the women's side.

Agree that the slide across the board from NSW, but that can also be said about Queensland and potentially SA. Victoria are getting back to asserting dominance in the coming years.

SA Men just got belted by the Victoria A team. And this is after scraping home in a very unconvincing way against ACT last night.

A medal this year might be out of reach.

Interested to hear what others think - but SA just looks a bit small? Despite Alex & Paddy in the backcourt who are tall guards, across the board we just don't have the size to rebound or rim protect.

The NSW men's A team lost by 34 to the VIC men’s B team this morning.

VIC just pulls further and further away.

Vic very strong.
Amazes me that they keep playing kids who are going to be footballers. They have not learnt, or perhaps they don't care because they are not measured on what happens post juniors.

Well the NSW Mens teams have been dissapointing and gone down to Tasmania and South Australia tonight.

Reece Potter keeps getting the job of Head Coaching and has not succeeded in 18's and now possibly with 20's as well.

How much longer do BNSW keep giving him the job.

Pat Williamson is having his first hit as Head Coach it is a learning curve so he may get a gig again next year.

Lets see how they finish the tournament off as you cannot see them coming out the quarters cross over in a good position.

Someone needs to ask some questions about this Vic game.

Vic Navy looked unstoppable in stretches and in other stretches looked as cold as ice.

NSW Blue played very well, too it to VIC aggressively. Just weren't quite up to it at the end.

HP system in VIC is broken, been covered over by sheer weight of talent coming through. Time for an overhaul to make sure we make the most of what we have.

NSW have work to do with their boys program.

Both teams played each other this moring for a low position.

In all age groups for the boys apart from the 16 boys getting a silver last the results have not been great.

The women just scraped into the Gold Medal game so lets see if they learnt anything from the loss to QLD the other day.

Perkins has stepped up recently to help them get through.

'Our job was to ruin everyone's week’ quoted from the head of men’s high performance who happens to be the Vic Navy head coach. I think, looking at both rosters, either Zach Moult (Vic Coach) does not know the talent landscape and made some errors or he has been suckered in to the reputations of some kids and not been supported by those who were going to reap the benefits of these selections. For example, the head of men’s high performance at BV? I mean the Vic Navy coach.

wow! that is pretty awkward! Surely, questions over the selections (which clearly Best and the other HP boys coach Cooper-Brown (also a Navy AC?) approved) need to be asked.

What is the point of the 2nd team? I believe when they first started sending 2 teams, the 2nd team was a 'development team'. With the likes of Cheeseman, Robinson and Foxwell in it, this is obviously not a 'development team'.

Is Grant Wallace still in charge at BV?

Wallace resigned late last year.

States were allowed to enter a second team post-Covid as there were kids that missed out. Victoria's second team is also super competitive (obviously), so their inclusion doesn't bring down the standard of the comp. Still, it's pretty crazy how the results played out, with their first side not even medaling. There will be lots of questions asked within BV and BA because of this.

On that note, I thought the standard of the Women's comp was very ordinary. NSW weren't the powerhouse I expected, Victoria was extremely underwhelming, and generally games were sloppy. Other than Russell, the CoE players were also very poor.

@jayhoops with the women, are you aware that the winning NSW team was all bottom age apart from 2 players?

@Retired, The boys development program has been quite weak for a while, with the occasional good player coming through and being successful being an exception rather than the norm.

Domestic comp standards are poor and the Rep program is flawed with too short a season and too few strong associations. This is exacerbated even moreso in the girls.

The group of 2007 girls in NSW is far stronger than any others coming through from 2008+

I'm aware. Bottom vs top age doesn't really factor into the women's game and many will forgo U20 Nats for college, WNBL non-basketball opportunities in their top age year.

I'm not sure how the U20 Vic Men's team were selected, but it looks like all of the COE kids went into the A team, along with the best 2006 kids, plus Henry Sewell because they needed a good C.

Vic Navy looks like the best of the rest of the '07 kids.

I'm not sure there is a conspiracy here. On paper, I would have expected Vic to perform better than Vic Navy, however similar to the last U17 world cup it looks like 1 bad performance for Vic got in their heads and compounded to a 4th place finish.
