Hawks @ JJs Thursday 7.30pm

Deng a game time decision and Drmic back per assistant coach Mark Radford as just reported in the Hobart Mercury. Suspect both will play meaning JJs will be much more competitive and with the enormous home court advantage at MSBA. Will be interesting particularly if refs have now been instructed to let 'em play as per other game threads recently.

Couple of interesting games going on this round. Wouldn't it be interesting last round if JJs and Brisbane win Thursday Friday. I imagine the marketing machine would love it.

If Deng and Magnay play it's game on, if not not so much. If they play hawks by 10, if not hawks by 20 plus. Hawks got show they championship favourites, got make a statement.

Just read that article comparing DJV and Reyne Smith at College and watched the 11 made 3s from that game last week. OMG, can't wait for him to arrive at the JJs. Would be handy tonight.

Deng playing, not starting. Almost certain we won't see Magnay again this year

Still mind boggling cutting an effective Sword for one of the worst imports this league has ever seen.

Scott Christopherson and AD Smith probably disupte that comment.

To easy for hawks, quarter left. Who do the JJs keep, some have overachieved but at use by date now, Roth can only do so much, who makes the selections of players.

Hummer is right up there for the worst import this league has seen in quite some time

Doyle has to stay, Deng, Drimic, Gak also I'd keep. I like Crawford as a player and person but believe he might pay for their crap season, other clubs would be surely looking at him. Magnay and MacDonald obviously should stay, the rest see you later, thanks for your service.

I don't understand why Hummer is so poor. Can’t just be confidence, surely - who airballs a foul shot ffs?

I can't remember all the details on Hummer but he hasn’t had a full time job for about three seasons, maybe through injury or being cut, not certain what they thought. I thought he was ok for bits of games in D and rebounding, his O was non existent.

Just hoping Scout. There is something on Hoopla from last free agency about the JJs hoping to get him after college.

Did Hummer hoist up any half court shots out of the blue?
Can get any scrub from nbl1 to do a bit of defence and rebound at 6 7 in an injury plagued team.
His minutes shows what Roth thinks. For a team needing at least a win to even stay alive, bringing in such a terrible player certainly blew out any hope they could have. There are imports in the country that could have helped them, most baffling decision in a long time, literally could not get a worse style of player. Unathletic, non scorer/shooter and not big enough to be a big.

Watched this on delay due to it overlapping with the WNBL game, and I come in here to find someone beat me to an AD Smith reference.

Roth said at the Presser that he wants Stiendel to play on next season. That means maybe only one full local roster spot will be vacated. With Magnay, Gak and Woodhill at the 5 probably no change there. Deng and Krislovic at the 4/5 along with a high level import 4. Steindel and Drimic at the 3 and then Doyle, MacDonald and ? as the guards. That is where all the intrigue will be. Does Crawford return or do they try to bring in a marquee level local again or maybe a Reyne Smith. If the latter then that leaves room for an import 3. If the former then probably another local wing. That is still quite a different look to the roster but not much change to the local core. More would require one of Gak or Krislovic to go and I can't really see that happening. Probably doesn’t leave room for Stoddart which is unfortunate and Roth didn’t sound committed there in what he said.

He wasn't that complementary on Krislovic year, said coaches continuously were working with him around the basket and how his three ball had dropped off dramatically this season. I can’t see both Gak or Krislovic staying, only one and Gak has more up side. He will chase a top quality four, whether local or import.

A lot of maybe in the above, maybe Roth wont be the coach next season? From the outside it looks like a bloke who might want out. Jack the blind miner could see Hummer was an extremely poor choice before he even took the court.

Nobody is ever going anywhere until they do. Generally, when the board is behind a coach, it is more about behind him to push him out.

If you think the JJs would burn 2 years of contract payments to replace Roth then good for you. JJs are also being sold as a going concern with a contracted championship winning coach part of that deal. Yes, a new owner may change course down the track as that is their prerogative. Chances are also that Roth gets an even bigger roster spend and happy days.

Most punters thought how this year has panned out for JJs is more like there first year should have gone. Roth only going if he wants out.

Adelaide are quite capable of losing their last 2 games against SEM and the Cats. A miracle win over perhaps a complacent United tomorrow night might see it all come down to the final home game against the Snakes with percentage not in play to decide 6th spot. Does Roth play Deng again. He seemed to come through that game ok. And does Roth roll the biggest dice of all and bring back an underdone Magnay if medically cleared. Probably not but you never know. JJs remarkably still have a lot to play for after Adelaide's loss tonight as do Brisbane. Congrats to the Bullets on a great win. Hope Josh Adam’s is ok.
