Phoenix @ Wildcats, 31/01

Cats finally at full strength with Windler & Webster (remember that guy?) both back in action tonight.

I saw somewhere recently that the Cats are 0-5 this season when Windler doesn't play, which I thought was an interesting one.

Now this game will tell us a lot, will the real Perth stand up and are SEM just pretenders. Good match up all over the floor, who stops Hurt and who stops Cotton could be keys. Is MVP Cotton turning up, I think so or it could go elsewhere. Should be an absolute beauty. Cats by a whisker.

I don't think you can go past SEM since they are top of the ladder based on form filtered for the last 5/10/15/20 games.

Not sure you can even call them dark horses anymore at the rate they are performing - already sit in the top four and could go past Sydney with a win here.

Too close to call, should be a beauty.

And will be even better if SEM don't score 112 :)

They probably will, so it's a matter of whether we can put up 113

Cats for mine, hope Doolittle goes to Hurt (doubt it), would be a cracking match up.

Good start to both Hunter and Pinder on O, both struggling on D against each other.

Very good quarter by both sides, Hurt certainly can shoot. 27-26 cats.

49 each in a highly entertaining game. Very even across the board for both sides. Doolittle probably cats best, SEM very even but Glover at plus six probably their best. Hurt and Pinder, Hunter also good.

How is this happening again like the Scomo year? Sensational performance on that long road trip to position themselves beautifully then serve up utter garbage at home. The lack of intensity is baffling.

Wagstaff got a very lucky call there, long way to go yet, nice little buffer to SEM and they have missed some sitters.

Hurt on D at times is very average. Hunter holds the middle up and when not there SEM struggle.

From 12 down to 1 up with Hunter on the bench.

It's going to be a sad day when Bryce & CG43 are no longer in the NBL. Appreciate them while you can fellas.

Foul count in the last and over the whole game certainly helped cats, I can't see King being to happy. Pinder was very good but Hunter clearly needs a better back up in the five spot than Hurt. Hurt should stay in the four. King benched Sobey to late in the last after having a good game but went iso in the last. Cotton probably sowed up mvp tonight. Doolittle was excellent and should be in the nbl first team, imo he’s better than both Hurt and Cooks.
Cracking game overall.

Windler looked rusty as hell, but somehow Tai did not. His & Keanu's energy were a big part of making that game winnable.

Pretty entertaining game. Perth best and worst is far to spread, when they dial up the defensive pressure they can actually generate turnovers, other times its an uncontested layup. Not allowed to speak about the ref's, but, thought they were less of an impact on the flow then last game, surprised perth didn't get called for a few more defensive fouls in the 4th, having said that felt they could have got to the line more in the 3rd, guess thats somewhat consistent. Sem hit some tough shots, Perth showed backbone, which was nice, but they look much better when they run sets and create looks for each other rather than iso hero ball. Shooters hoot better when they get good looks!!

And there he is. Couldn't help yourself.
You were talking about FT. Perth went to the line 21 times, Sem 10 and you wanted more?

Kings press conference is excellent, Hurt never got a free throw. In the two games he's coached there, 51-20 free throws.

How is Hurt meant to get FTs when 75% of his shots are 1 legged fade aways?

Definitely was nothing to do with SEM missing a ton of chippies & a couple of dunks, double-dribbling in the final minute, giving up 34 points in the 4th quarter, etc.
Those bloody refs.
They should be kicking themselves for dropping that one after playing so well for so much of the game.

SEM still can struggle in the D end, certainly in last quarters, as previous, he should have benched Sobey earlier as he went back to his iso best.

Literally said I was surprised Perth didn't get whistled for more in the 4th.... also I can confirm you aren't actually allowed to use free throw differential as evidence of bad umpiring, I have tried.

Any neutral supporter would have thought Gleeson was back on the sidelines in the last quarter certainly.

Glad you've learned.
Obviously the balance of questionable calls can end up in favour of one team over the other, but free throw differential in isolation is not evidence of shit, just as the foul count alone is also not evidence of shit.

If I foul a guy, that doesn't mean my team suddenly deserves the next call in our favour.

Free throw differential has to be looked at in context. Opposition has to realise that you can't defend Bryce
(MVP) Cotton when your in the same postcode as him.
