36ers @ Wildcats, 07/02

Second game of a cracking double header tonight.

Cats to take a crack at 2nd spot by trying to run up a big winning margin and then hoping United lose to the Phoenix by enough to slip behind on %

36ers will try to open up some cracks in Perth's defence and get back into winning mode ahead of the play-ins

Coaches trying to refrain from cracking the shits with the officials and/or a star guard

End of the working week, a packed house ... should be a craic

So does anyone know what the maths behind Adelaide securing 6th tonight?

No maths if they win, they'll be in. Lose and then there'll be a number Tassie have to win by against cairns tomorrow to knock them out

I think both games need to have 40 point margins to change the standings so that won't happen.

I think the magic number is 74 points. So if Perth win by say 37 Tassie would need to beat Cairns by 37 to knock us out of the Top 6. Not impossible but I suspect the Sixers will try to live up to their end of the bargain tonight.

We're 0-3 against Perth this season and lost those games by 15, 24 and 7 points.

Feels like if the Sixers can keep this below a 20 point loss that'll be a good performance from them given how they played last week.

Unless Adelaides defence shows cracks and Wells cracks it at halftime, it should be cracking game. Rillie might crack the whip to put a crack in Sixers hopes. Cotton could crack another 40 piece tonight to cap off a great scoring season and crack open a wine and some crackers to celebrate a cracking win. If Adelaide lose by a lot it might leave a crack open for Tassie to slip in, would take a cracking effort to get a blowout to get in. But Roth would have to be smoking crack to think they have a chance, but you never know if Rillie has a crack at the refs all game to win big. But unless a big crack emerges in Cottons driveway preventing him from getting to game, he'll be cracking those fingers in warmups for another big night.
Should be a cracking game nonetheless.

36ers making the most of their shots at the line and hitting Perth better off turnovers, but terrible from long range. Perth hitting their 3's though, so both teams got areas that if they improve can win them the game in the 2nd half.

36ers don't win close ones really, so no surprise they lost this, but they didn't get blown out, so they did enough.

Game like this massively shows up the lack of bigman depth for the 36ers though. Mayen isn't big enough to consistently play the 4 and Gritschi is still unplayable in anything other than garbage minutes.

It was 66 however now that we know what ADL's total final for/against points tally is (i.e. points percentage) TAS would need to win by 72.

Sydney does seem to be a matchup which Adelaide like, the 36ers are completely unpredictable though. There have been ridiculous fluctuations from game to game in their performance and then within games themselves. There was a period in the 3rd quarter tonight where Perth worked back into it where the Sixers stopped hustling, playing D and getting into any decent offense for 5 mins - this was really the turning point. Yet at numerous other times in the game, they looked on top.

The huge pendulum that swings between good and bad so quickly with this team is something I haven't seen before, and makes them completely unpredictable. I think that’s why Sixers fans feel so frustrated watching this team, it seems they could be right in the mix for a championship if there was a better and more stable mental element to the team, but unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case. I wouldn’t be surprised if they beat Sydney, but also wouldn’t be surprised if they get blown out, it’s like all possible outcomes are on the table with Sixers in their current state.

Most promising part for Adelaide was they maintained intensity for the whole game and no signs of imploding.

Just ran into a good team shooting the lights out when it counted

They should beat Sydney if they play like that, particularly if Adams is out.

Adelaide need to box out better though. Pinder got way more o boards than he should have

What an abject failure this season already is for the Sixers. Despite spending a gabillion dollars, the owner of the league buying in to the club, paying for Harrell, and the obvious bias towards the Sixers in the last few rounds to get them into the 6, they finish with one more win plus having played an extra game, than last season. Yet they will pull their d*cks to the media, saying what a success it is to make finals after all these years. A season where it is harder to miss finals than make it, and they come in with a losing record. Ninnis's win percentage shits all over Wells and that is a cold hard fact that nobody can deny, and the club won't acknowledge.
Absolute fools gold of an organisation run by a bunch of clowns who have no idea about basketball, but think they do.

Totally disagree, Davis is instrumental in everything Sixers do, stats in garbage time, lol. Punters were saying Perth would be better without Cotton when he was injured and they were winning. Basketball is a game built on stats, they have to come into it. Considering also Cotton plays nearly all game are his stats in garbage time. Daylight, again lol, it's close and any neutral observer would agree, not like the biased commentary who only see points.

If you don't like reading what I say move on, in a free world you are allowed different opinions but you are probably tied to the trump band wagon so it’s understandable. I’d say the Goorj has aged but history will show you he’s been an excellent coach. I’m hoping a coach of Australia does all the work and if unavailable for some tournaments then his already appointed assistants do it. Yes it’s a beauty of a day and I’m having a cracker, hopefully you can as well. Keep happy.

As a cats fan, I was surprised at how little Adelaide used Humphries. At some stages, it almost looked like the players had decided to freeze him out although I'm sure that wasn’t the case. With Doolittle tied up with Harrel, they would have had Pinder in foul trouble if he had to defend Humphries more often.

It was great to see Cotton and Davis in the same game. An established star and an emerging one.
