Jason Cadee retires

https://www.adelaide36ers.com/news/cadee-announces-nbl-retirement

Adelaide 36ers point guard Jason Cadee will retire at the end of the NBL25 season.

Cadee told the playing group on Tuesday morning at training in Melbourne ahead of Thursday night's Play-In battle against Sydney Kings at Qudos Bank Arena.

The 186cm point guard said his decision has been weeks in the making, but he was excited to take on an opportunity with Australian underwear company Step One as his next challenge.

"Sometimes opportunities pop up and when you get to the stage I’m at later in your career, you are always looking at your post basketball life," Cadee said.

Was hoping he'd stick around, he's going to be a big loss as his veteran leadership was pivotal at times this year.

Imo he had a few hand ups throughout his career due to connections, in saying that certainly had a good career and took his opportunities. He got better the older he got and has had an excellent season. In a nut shell, congratulations and well done.

Very respectable career. Was a bit too much of a chucker when he went up to Queensland IMO and was always better going to the bucket, but really matured in a reserve role

I was hoping he played on another year or two with the Sixers has shown some good veteran leadership at points the last couple of seasons. Can't begrudge him moving on with another gig lined up, perhaps he could get then to reactivate his JC5 streetwear?

Was a shame he and Sunday Dech were singled out by GK last season for DNP's, that Ninnis chose to ignore, obviously in the hope they would both walk away from the last season of their contracts. I expect Dech will probably follow him out the door but I hope not.

Joey Wright in a podcast singled out Jason Cadee saying he will make a great coach when he stops playing

Wonder if that's in his plans in a few years time.

Has had a good season so far to finish off with, hopefully has a deep finals run aswell.

Had the pleasure of Coaching Jason in a couple of state teams and he was a pleasure to coach.

He showed then that he had the potential to go a long way in Basketball and he has certainly achieved that.

Congrats on a fantastic career and after tonights win you would feel even sweeter with a win over the Kings.
